RCCG Open Heaven 3 September 2026 Daily Devotional by Pastor E.A. Adeboye – TRADING WITH GOD II
Topic: TRADING WITH GOD II

Memorise:
Give, and it shall be given unto you; good measure, pressed down, and shaken together, and running over, shall men give into your bosom. For with the same measure that ye mete withal it shall be measured to you again.
— Luke 6:38 (KJV)
Read: 2 Corinthians 9:6-8 (KJV)
6 But this I say, He which soweth sparingly shall reap also sparingly; and he which soweth bountifully shall reap also bountifully.
7 Every man according as he purposeth in his heart, so let him give; not grudgingly, or of necessity: for God loveth a cheerful giver.
8 And God is able to make all grace abound toward you; that ye, always having all sufficiency in all things, may abound to every good work:
RCCG Open Heaven 3 September 2026 Today Message by Pastor E.A. Adeboye
Many years ago, God asked me what kind of pastor I wanted to be. He asked, “Do you want to be the best or the worst?” I told Him that I want to be the best. He asked further if I want to be the poorest or the richest, and I said that I want to be the richest. I have experienced being poor, and I can tell you that it is not good. For instance, for the first 18 years of my life, I had no pair of shoes because my parents could not afford any.
Shortly after God asked me what kind of pastor I wanted to be, I was at a church gathering, and it was time to give our offerings. Suddenly, God repeated the question He had asked me earlier, and I replied, “The greatest, the best, and the richest.” Then, He said, “Give Me the biggest currency note in your pocket.” That was hard, because it was a lot of money. I almost shouted, “Get behind me, satan,” but I know God’s voice, so I stammered, “Yes, yes, Lord.”
Not long after that, there was another gathering, and He asked the same question again. I gave the same answer, and He said, “Double what you have been giving Me,” so I doubled it. Not long after that, He asked me to triple it. I did, and then He began to act. Every day, different people would approach me to give me something, so I started to expect it. One day, I was about to sleep when I remembered that no one had approached me to give me anything. I told God, “Daddy, I didn’t receive Your messenger today. Nobody gave me anything today.” Around midnight, somebody knocked on my door and said, “Sir, God asked me to give you this.” I asked the fellow how he could be out that late, and he said, “I know that the God who sent me to you will take care of me.”
Beloved, let me ask you, “What kind of Christian would you like to be, a poor one or a rich one?” I want you to trust God and let Him prove Himself in your life as the Almighty Supplier. Give to Him continually out of the resources He has blessed you with, and I can assure you that a time will come when you will say to Him, “God, are these blessings not becoming too much?”
Key Point:
God always blesses those who give to Him.
Bible in One Year:
Ezekiel 31-32
Hymn 27: What a Friend We Have in Jesus
Verse 1:
What a Friend we have in Jesus,
All our sins and griefs to bear!
What a privilege to carry
Everything to God in prayer!
O what peace we often forfeit,
O what needless pain we bear,
All because we do not carry
Everything to God in prayer.
Verse 2:
Have we trials and temptations?
Is there trouble anywhere?
We should never be discouraged;
Take it to the Lord in prayer.
Can we find a friend so faithful
Who will all our sorrows share?
Jesus knows our every weakness;
Take it to the Lord in prayer.
Verse 3:
Are we weak and heavy laden,
Cumbered with a load of care?
Precious Savior, still our refuge—
Take it to the Lord in prayer.
Do thy friends despise, forsake thee?
Take it to the Lord in prayer!
In His arms He’ll take and shield thee;
Thou wilt find a solace there.
Open Heaven Devotional 3 September 2026 Commentary
Theme: The Burden Bearer challenges you to trade with God by giving bountifully and cheerfully. Your level of giving determines your level of harvest. God is the Almighty Supplier who rewards those who give to Him.
Major Keywords: Trading with God, sowing bountifully, cheerful giver, pressed down and running over, Almighty Supplier.
Commentary Summary:
-
Your Level of Giving Determines Your Harvest: 2 Corinthians 9:6 declares that sowing sparingly reaps sparingly; sowing bountifully reaps bountifully. If you want a “pressed down, shaken together, and running over” blessing, you cannot give sparingly.
-
Daddy Adeboye’s Testimony: God asked him what kind of pastor he wanted to be. He chose the best and the richest because he knew the pain of poverty. God tested him by asking him to give his biggest note, then double, then triple. After he obeyed, God sent people to give to him daily—even at midnight.
-
Give Cheerfully, Not Grudgingly: 2 Corinthians 9:7 reminds us that God loves a cheerful giver. Your attitude is as important as your amount. Give purposefully, not of necessity.
-
Key Truth: God is able to make all grace abound toward you so that you have all sufficiency in all things (2 Corinthians 9:8). When you trade with God, you never run dry. He becomes your Almighty Supplier.
Reference to Theme: This message, TRADING WITH GOD II, shows that trading with God requires increasing your “trade” and trusting Him as your Supplier. The more you give, the more you receive. God is not mocked—He rewards those who give bountifully.
Action Steps:
-
Check Your Measure: Look at your current giving. Is it “sparing” or “bountiful”? Decide today to increase your “trade” with God.
-
Give the “Biggest Note”: The next time you are moved to give, don’t look for the smallest change. Challenge yourself to give your “biggest” and see how God responds.
-
Trust the Supplier: Stop worrying about who will help you. Trust that as you give to God’s work, He will send “messengers” to find you, even at midnight if necessary.
