In this lesson, we will observe Job as he is confronted by the God of creation. Job has been posing questions that may be legitimate, but some have been offered in an irrelevant, almost accusatory way. In answering him God put Job in his place, so to speak, reminding Job that he is one of God’s creatures not the all-knowing, all-powerful, and sovereign Creator. At the end, Job repented from numerous questions he posted towards God. God created us and every other creatures for His glory and He cares for us. The way we live our lives and show thankfulness or not, portrays to others how we view whether we are grateful to God for our creation, and desire to give Him all the glory.

LESSON NUGGETS
1. GOD GOVERNS HEAVEN AND EARTH
Job 38:1,18-38
In Job 38:18-30, God asked Job a series of questions that were designed to bring Job to his senses and lead him into deep humility. Note that Job was a desperate man who passed through numerous difficulties and only option left for him at that point to look up to for answers to his series “why” questions. Job felt God had deserted him. He wanted to find God and come to his seat (Job 23:3). God eventually spoke and silence was broken (Job 38:1-3). God does speak because He alone governs heaven and earth. Though He may delay He is not dead. He answered Job’s prayer. He will answer your prayer no matter your present ugly situation.
God breaks the silence in His own time. He allowed Job and his friends to argue their perspectives. When they had nothing left to say it was time for God to speak. In the fullness of time Jesus Christ was born. At the right time, God’s time, Jesus died and rose from death. In God’s time this world will end and the new heaven and earth will be inaugurated. Everything is done according to God’s time. We may not have particulars but we must have patience. We may not have all it takes to answer all your questions, but only faith in God can help us to conquer our fears as we wait for God’s time.
God speaks unmistakably. He spoke to Job through a whirlwind ( Job 38:1). There was no ambiguity, no confusion. It was God speaking. When God speaks he confronts darkness and ignorance. Job had spoken dark counsel. He had spoken words without knowledge. God now confronts Job’s darkness and ignorance. Today He does the same thing. God has spoken through Jesus Christ who being the light of the world and the truth confronts human darkness and ignorance. God challenges people to listen. He told Job to prepare himself to listen. When God speaks people stop arguing and they listen.God challenged Job to explain the wonders of the heavens. Job can not explain the movement of stars, moon and other mysteries of the universe. Even today, the vastness of the heavens continues to intrigue and baffle the greatest minds of our time. This shows that God is the ruler of all things.
2. GOD CARES FOR ANIMALS
Job 38:39-41; 39:1-13,19-25
️God asked Job to explain how animals like the ravens and wild donkey manage to survive in the wilderness. Had Job set the boundaries of their habitat? Of course not. No human being even had the ability to understand how such an animal could thrive in the wild as the donkey does. Who provideth for the raven his food? when his young ones cry unto God, they wander for lack of meat (Job 38:41). Job is stunned and overwhelmed–probably at both the experience and at what God has said to him ending with this calling to account. All Job can answer is that he is vile–worthless–and he covers his mouth, probably as a symbol of his unworthiness to say anymore. Job is humbled at God’s words. Just as Job has no answer to God’s questions on how every creatures survive, we must recognise God as most powerful and sovereign to both care for and control every creature of creation. Beloved, in your situation, He is in control.
God’s creation reveals His care. He is the One who equips the mother to care for its young. He is the one who watches His creatures with a close and caring eye. When one observes the marvels of animal creation, he or she is driven to the realisation that the Creator has taken great care for His creation and made provision for its survival. In the New Testament, Jesus memorably referenced God’s care for the animal kingdom when He taught His followers not to worry. “Look at the birds. They don’t need to plant or harvest or put food in barns because your heavenly Father feeds them. And you are far more valuable to him than they are?” (Matthew 6:26, NLT). God’s care for His creation is as far beyond our understanding as it was beyond that of Job.
3. GOD IS SOVEREIGN OVER HUMANKIND
Job 31:1-6; 40:1-5.
The sovereignty of God may be defined as the way in which the supreme God exercises of His supremacy. It is the Supreme God in action over humankind. God is infinitely elevated above the highest creature, He is the Most High, Lord of heaven and earth. Subject to none, influenced by none, absolutely independent; God does as He pleases, only as He pleases always as He pleases. None can stop Him, none can hinder Him. So His own Word expressly declares: “My counsel shall stand, and I will do all My pleasure” (Isaiah 46:10). He does as He pleases with the powers of heaven and the peoples of the earth. No one can hold back His hand or say to Him: “What have you done?” (Daniel 4:35). He alone is God and have answers to all our questions.
The Lord does whatever pleases Him, in the heavens and on the earth, in the seas and all their depths (Psalm 135:6). God is unrivalled in majesty, unlimited in power, unaffected by anything outside Himself. The creature has no right to demand that the Creator give an account of Himself. When God was finished, all Job could do was acknowledge Him as the sovereign Lord. “I know that you can do anything, and no one can stop you” (Job 42:2, NLT). Job had been confronted with a personal revelation of God, delivered by God Himself, and it had transformed his understanding. There was no further response that he could make. All that was left for Job to do was repent. “I had heard about you before, but now I have seen you with my own eyes. I take back everything I said, and I sit in dust and ashes to show my repentance” (Job 42:5-6, NLT). AGN ADULT SUNDAY SCHOOL LESSONS UNIT 1 Creation In The Whole Bible LESSON 2: JANUARY 8 2023
