SUB-THEME: INDICES OF LACK OF PEACE.

12 Beware, brothers, lest perhaps there might be in any one of you an evil heart of unbelief, in falling away from the living God;

13 but exhort one another day by day, so long as it is called “today”, lest any one of you be hardened by the deceitfulness of sin.

14 For we have become partakers of Christ, if we hold the beginning of our confidence firm to the end,

15 while it is said, “Today if you will hear his voice, don’t harden your hearts, as in the rebellion.” (refs1) Heb 3:7

TOPIC HARDHEARTEDNESS TUESDAY 21ST MARCH 2023

A hard-hearted person is callous and does not show sympathy. He lacks compassion and cannot live in peace with anyone. Such is the heart that is not transformed by the word of God (Jeremiah 17:9). Today’s text stresses that those who rebel against God have equally turned away from life to death. It also cautions the reader to turn away from incessant sinning thereby defying divine grace. Consistent sinning deadens the conscience, makes one complacent and taking the path of ‘no return’. Brethren, hearken to the voice of the Holy Spirit and return while there is still hope. “Today, if you hear his voice, do not harden your hearts” (3:7-8a). His grace will not last indefinitely. So, do not procrastinate.

Repent of your sin today.

Lord, I repent of my sin now, in Jesus’ name. Amen.
