Daily Walk With Christ – COCIN Devotional 13TH APRIL 2023
SUB-THEME: THE CROSS OF JESUS.
TOPIC: HONOURS AND INCREASES JOY.
TEXT: ISAIAH 9:1-3.
1 But there will be no gloom for her who was in distress. Formerly, he brought contempt to the region of Zebulun and the region of Naphtali, but in the future he will have made glorious the way of the sea, the territory beyond the Jordan—Galilee of the nations. Mat 4:15 [2Ki 15:29] [Act 10:37]
2 The people who walked in darkness have seen a great light; for those living in a land of deep darkness, a light has shined upon them. Mat 4:15-16 Eph 5:14 [Luk 1:79] [Act 10:37]
3 You have increased the nation; you have increased its joy; they rejoice in your presence as they rejoice at the harvest, as they are glad when they’re dividing the spoils of war.
TOPIC: HONOURS AND INCREASES JOY.
MESSAGE:
Isaiah foretold the great and awesome honour and joy that awaited the Gentile nations that were devastated by the Assyrians. In the reading, we learnt that the Messiah will identify with Galilee of the Gentiles, to honour her, increase the joy of her inhabitants and to enable them walk in the light (cf. Matthew 4:16). Beyond this, the Gentiles will no longer experience darkness, sorrow and evil days but a resounding joy likened to that of reapers after harvest. This was accomplished when Jesus hung on the cross. He amalgamated Israel and the Gentile nations.
Is your ethnic nationality enjoying this salvation that Christ brought?
Do not grope in darkness, embrace light and be a vessel to reach out to others bringing them to the place of honour and joy.
REFLECTION:
It is time to embrace the cross.
PRAYER:
Lord, thank you for honouring and giving me joy. Amen.
MEMORY VERSE FOR THE MONTH: HEBREWS 12:2
“…who for the joy set before him endured the cross, scorning its shame, and sat down at the right hand of the throne of God”.
TODAY’S READING PLAN: 2 KINGS 20-22.
