Cross Over Order of Church Service (Non-Denominational)

A well-organized crossover service sets the tone for a spiritually uplifting and memorable transition into the new year. Below is a suggested structure for a non-denominational crossover service. It combines worship, prayer, reflection, and celebration to help the congregation end the year with gratitude and enter the new year with faith and anticipation.

Pre-Service (Optional)

  • Start Time: 10:00 PM (or earlier for fellowship and preparation)
  • Background instrumental worship music.
  • Intercessory prayer for the service (led by prayer leaders).
  • Greeting and welcoming attendees as they arrive.

Opening Session

Start Time: 10:30 PM

  1. Opening Prayer (5 minutes)
    • Led by a designated church leader or pastor.
    • Thanksgiving for the past year and an invitation for God’s presence.
  2. Praise and Worship Session (25 minutes)
    • A mix of high-energy praise songs and reflective worship songs.
    • Engage the congregation in singing, clapping, and dancing.
    • Focus on themes of gratitude, renewal, and surrender.
  3. Welcome and Acknowledgments (5 minutes)
    • Welcome from the pastor or service leader.
    • Brief acknowledgment of guests, volunteers, and the purpose of the service.

Reflection and Thanksgiving Session

Start Time: 11:00 PM

  1. Testimonies of God’s Faithfulness (20 minutes)
    • Invite 2-3 people to briefly share significant testimonies from the past year.
    • Testimonies should focus on God’s goodness, answered prayers, and breakthroughs.
  2. Congregational Thanksgiving Prayer (10 minutes)
    • Lead the congregation in a session of thanksgiving, encouraging them to thank God for personal, family, and church blessings.
    • Use reflective scriptures like Psalm 103:1-5.

Word and Exhortation Session

Start Time: 11:30 PM

  1. Sermon/Message (30 minutes)
    • Title: “Behold, I Am Doing a New Thing” or another relevant theme.
    • Focus on faith, preparation, and stepping into God’s promises for the new year.
    • Include key scriptures like Isaiah 43:18-19, Jeremiah 29:11, and Philippians 3:13-14.

Crossover Prayer Session

Start Time: 11:55 PM

  1. Countdown into the New Year
    • At 11:55 PM, transition into a time of focused prayer.
  2. Corporate Prayers for the New Year (20 minutes total)
    • Prayer for Personal Renewal: Ask for spiritual growth, strength, and wisdom.
    • Prayer for Families: Commit homes and loved ones to God.
    • Prayer for the Church: Pray for growth, impact, and unity in the congregation.
    • Prayer for the Nation: Pray for peace, righteousness, and God’s guidance.
  3. New Year Countdown
    • At 11:59 PM, lead the congregation in a countdown to midnight.
    • Shout praises and declare, “Happy New Year!” at 12:00 AM.
  4. New Year Worship Celebration (10 minutes)
  • Sing celebratory songs to usher in the new year.
  • Congregational rejoicing with dancing, clapping, and instruments.

Post-Midnight Session

Start Time: 12:10 AM

  1. Prophetic Declarations for the New Year (10 minutes)
  • The pastor or leader declares blessings, promises, and prophetic words over the congregation for the new year.
  • Encourage individuals to speak positive affirmations over their lives.

  • A short reflective time for the congregation to partake in communion as a way to dedicate the new year to God.

Closing Session

  1. Announcements and Reminders (5 minutes)

  • Dedicate the new year to God and pray for His guidance and protection.
  • Benediction scripture: Numbers 6:24-26.

  • Anointing Service: Anoint attendees as a symbol of God’s blessing and empowerment for the new year.
