What began as a small gathering under a canopy at the Redemption Camp in March 1986 has grown into the largest regular Christian gathering on the continent of Africa, with millions attending physically and millions more connecting globally through broadcasts and digital platforms .
This four-decade journey is not merely a chronological marker but a testament to the faithfulness of God and the power of the Holy Spirit working through yielded vessels. From Thursday, March 5th through Sunday, March 8th, 2026, the global RCCG family and the entire body of Christ gather at the Redemption Camp (and online) to celebrate this historic occasion under the theme “EXCELLENCE” .

THE SIGNIFICANCE OF FORTY IN SCRIPTURE
The number forty carries deep biblical significance:
- Forty years – Israel wandered in the wilderness for forty years before entering the Promised Land

The Holy Ghost Service began in March 1986 under the leadership of Pastor E.A. Adeboye, who had become General Overseer of RCCG in 1981. Day 1 – Thursday, March 5th (Opening Night)
The service commences with high praise and worship, setting the atmosphere for the days ahead. The opening message establishes the theme of Excellence and calls the congregation to reflect on 40 years of God’s faithfulness.
Day 2 – Friday, March 6th (Holy Ghost Service)
The traditional Holy Ghost Service format with powerful worship, prayer, and the ministration of the Word. This night is known for dramatic miracles and divine encounters.
Day 3 – Saturday, March 7th (Special Anniversary Service)
A service dedicated to thanksgiving and celebration of the 40-year journey. Special testimonies from those whose lives have been touched over the decades.
Day 4 – Sunday, March 8th (Thanksgiving and Closing)
The grand finale with special thanksgiving offerings, prayers for the future, and a prophetic declaration for the next 40 years.
MINISTERS
The primary minister is “our father-in-the-Lord, Pastor E. A. Adeboye.” For 40 years, he has stood on that altar, releasing the Word of God with power, accuracy, and love. His consistency, humility, and anointing have made him a father to millions.
