BIBLE TEXT: 2 Samuel 11, Psaim 51.
2 Samuel 11
[1]And it came to pass, after the year was expired, at the time when kings go forth to battle, that David sent Joab, and his servants with him, and all Israel; and they destroyed the children of Ammon, and besieged Rabbah. But David tarried still at Jerusalem.
[2]And it came to pass in an eveningtide, that David arose from off his bed, and walked upon the roof of the king’s house: and from the roof he saw a woman washing herself; and the woman was very beautiful to look upon.
[3]And David sent and enquired after the woman. And one said, Is not this Bathsheba, the daughter of Eliam, the wife of Uriah the Hittite?
[4]And David sent messengers, and took her; and she came in unto him, and he lay with her; for she was purified from her uncleanness: and she returned unto her house.
[5]And the woman conceived, and sent and told David, and said, I am with child.
[6]And David sent to Joab, saying, Send me Uriah the Hittite. And Joab sent Uriah to David.
[7]And when Uriah was come unto him, David demanded of him how Joab did, and how the people did, and how the war prospered.
[8]And David said to Uriah, Go down to thy house, and wash thy feet. And Uriah departed out of the king’s house, and there followed him a mess of meat from the king.
[9]But Uriah slept at the door of the king’s house with all the servants of his lord, and went not down to his house.
[10]And when they had told David, saying, Uriah went not down unto his house, David said unto Uriah, Camest thou not from thy journey? why then didst thou not go down unto thine house?

Psalms 51
[1](To the chief Musician, A Psalm of David, when Nathan the prophet came unto him, after he had gone in to Bathsheba.) Have mercy upon me, O God, according to thy lovingkindness: according unto the multitude of thy tender mercies blot out my transgressions.
[2]Wash me throughly from mine iniquity, and cleanse me from my sin.
[3]For I acknowledge my transgressions: and my sin is ever before me.
[4]Against thee, thee only, have I sinned, and done this evil in thy sight: that thou mightest be justified when thou speakest, and be clear when thou judgest.
[5]Behold, I was shapen in iniquity; and in sin did my mother conceive me…………………….
MEMORY VERSE: John 16:8a “And when He has come, He will convict the world of sin!”
LESSON AIM: Holy Spirit convicts you of your sin.
CHILD RELATED TRUTH: Confess when the Holy Spirit convicts you of your sins.
INTRODUCTION: Have you ever done wrong and tried to cover it up? How did you feel?
Perhaps later you admitted what you had done. Maybe someone found out and they forgave you. How did you feel then? David had all these feelings because he sinned and tried to cover it up.

PROGRESSION OF EVENTS:

A David, King of Israel believed in God and loved Him. 2 Samuel 7:22-29
B. Even though David belongs to God, there was a time when he committed a terrible sin 2 Samuel 11. David took Uriah’s wife and killed him, that is sin, you too have sinned in some
other ways may be lying, stealing, fighting. Romans 3:23
C. David tried to deal with this by covering it up instead of confessingit to God so he could be forgiven. 2 Samuel 11:6-27
D. David was very miserable for a long time. Psalms 51:8,12.
Why was he miserable? He had a guilty conscience because he had not confessed his sin. That is the same reason you are unhappy when you sin. But God loves you and wants you to be happy. John 3:16
E. God sent a preacher named Nathan to lovingly help David deal with his sin the right way. 2 Samuel 12.
God sent Jesus to you to help you have your sins forgiven.
Jesus the perfect son of God came and died for your sins. He gave His blood, He was buried and He rose the third day. Hebrews 9:22b
F. David listened to Nathan and admitted his sin. Psalm 51:1-4.
God wants you to listen to His word and believe Jesus died for your sin and then accept that you are a sinner.
CLIMAX: David prayed, confessing his sin and asking God to forgive him. Psalm 51:5, 17. He was convicted of his sin. You too must ask
the Holy Spirit to help you to realize that the wrong things that you do makes God unhappy and then ask God for forgiveness.
CONCLUSION: When God forgave David, he described it as having his heart washed clean and made white once again. He had peace
and joy again and he praised God. Psalms. 51,2,7,10,15.
CHALLENGE: When the Holy Spirit convicts you of sin, Repent and then you will find peace and joy.
INVITATION: Have been convicted of your sins? Repent and accept Jesus as your Lord and Savior. Romans 10:9
