SUNDAY SCHOOL LESSONS OF ASSEMBLIES OF GOD ADULT FEBRUARY 12 2023

TEXT: EPHESIANS 1:3-23

MEMORY VERSE: In whom [Jesus Christ]we have redemption through His blood, the forgiveness of sins, according to the riches of his grace – Eph1:7

CENTRAL TRUTH: Living in Christ is a great blessing.

Jesus died for all people(John3:16), and this sacrifice provided the great Gift God gave to us – ie, the Gift or Blessing of Salvation. This Gift of Salvation defines our position or place in Christ which we ought to be thankful to Him and be of service in pointing others to this great gift of Salvation. Our Memory Verse reiterates that we have redemption through the blood of Jesus Christ according to the riches of his Grace, and for us to have a better understanding of this wealth or riches in his grace for saving us, the Lesson presents the following outlines for our discussion today;

1.Our Spiritual Blessings In Christ

2.God’s Purchased Possession

3.Enlightened By God’s Spirit

Our Spiritual Blessings anchors in God’s eternal and individual plan for believers.

Lessons Derived: We have to be eternally grateful to God for the Redemptive blessings He sent from above to us. This blessings is God’s eternal Will or plan he gave us in Love. His plan for us to be holy and purified from sin and the stain of this world is of eternal importance because of the possibility of making us to live with Him forever. God’s adoption plan of choosing us by Jesus to himself is eternal having predestined us unto his good pleasure right before the foundation of the world. That is , He has chosen us before the world was created with the intent of keeping us to himself even after the end of this present world (v10). We have every reason to thank Him, for He has through this adoption abounded or bestowed upon us all wisdom and prudence. That is, He fills us with Heaven’s wisdom and understanding, revealing the mystery of his will to us and that’s how we walk in dominion regardless of any man or any thing.

GOD’S PURCHASED POSSESSION – EPH1:11-14

A sure promise reveals God’s plan for His purchased possession. The promised Holy Spirit reveals God’s plan of Redemption for those who are His own.

Lessons Derived: Our position or place in Christ is further made manifest through God’s promise to give Christians an inheritance in the Holy Ghost. The benefits of this inheritance extends beyond Salvation. Our Salvation is sealed by the Holy Spirit with His attendance Blessings; but no matter how large that blessing is for Christians here on earth, God’s plan as revealed in his word is that the blessedness of that inheritance will one day bring us to see Jesus face-to-face. So, the end result of God’s plan of redemption is that the redeemed or purchased might spent eternity with Him at last.

Believers are enlightened through the Gift of spiritual wisdom to appropriate the Power of God in this life and the life to come.

Lessons Derived: Paul the Apostle was walking in this enlightenment or light knowing fully well that it is our placement or inheritance in Christ. And this made him to pray God to download this same light to the Ephesians believers and to us by extension so;

*we might take our rightful place or position of walking in spiritual wisdom and revelation in the knowledge of God.

*our eyes of understanding be opened to know the purpose of our calling, and glorious riches for the saints, and to know the exceeding power of his greatness toward believers.

*we might not just merely hear God’s Word/Power through Scriptures but be convicted and convinced that as the power of God raised Christ from the dead – who now sits enthroned in Heaven, exalted above rulers and powers in the natural and supernatural realms; we too will be enthroned to the heavenly places in Christ Jesus if we walk in absolute obedience to His words.

Lastly, God had a plan to position or bring alignment between Himself and His creation(us) right from before the foundations of the world, and He has done all that is needed to make this redemption possible. Let us, then, respond to God’s Love.
