COCIN Devotional SATURDAY 3RD JUNE 2023 TOPIC: SACRIFICE OF CHRIST II
SUB-THEME: THE COST OF SEEKING PEACE.
TOPIC: SACRIFICE OF CHRIST II.
TEXT: EPHESSIANS 2:14-16.
14 It is the Messiah who has made it possible for Jews and non-Jews to live peacefully with each other. He made the two separate groups into one group. The two groups hated each other, but he took away every reason for hating each other when he died for all of us. Isa 9:6 Mic 5:5 Joh 16:33 Act 10:36 Rom 5:1 Col 1:20 [Hos 1:11] [Luk 19:38] [Joh 11:52]
15 He made it no longer necessary for us to obey the commandments and requirements of the Jewish law for him to accept us. He did this in order to make the Jews and the non-Jews into one new people who would live peacefully together because of their relationship to him.
16 He did this in order to reconcile both groups to God as one group by dying on the cross for all of them. By dying for them, Jesus made it possible for them to stop being enemies to each other and to God.

TOPIC: SACRIFICE OF CHRIST II.
MESSAGE:
A religious sacrifice is an offering to honour or appease God. Mankind was living in sin and disharmony with God. So, Christ died as a peace offering to:-
(i) Reconcile God and man
(ii) Break down the wall of hostility
(iii) Remove the barriers that divide them
(iv) Unite believers in the body of Christ.
Now, with the Holy Spirit in their hearts, the Jews and Gentiles can lay aside all the causes of contention that kept them apart and become one spiritual body, acting according to the precepts of the gospel.
It is sad that tribalism, political opinions and economic status among others still stand as barriers against believers’ harmony and progress in the home, church and society.
Note that the blood of Jesus has erased all barriers. Do not be indifferent to the purpose of his death.
