TOPIC: DO NOT MEDDLE WITH SIN.

TEXT: PROVERBS 26:17-19; EPHESIANS 5:4.
PROVERBS 26:17-19.
17. Like one who grabs a stray dog by the ears is someone who rushes into a quarrel not their own.
18. Like a maniac shooting flaming arrows of death
19. is one who deceives their neighbor and says, “I was only joking!”
EPHESIANS 5:4.
4. Nor should there be obscenity, foolish talk or coarse joking, which are out of place, but rather thanksgiving.
TOPIC: DO NOT MEDDLE WITH SIN.

MESSAGE:

Sin destroys a person, therefore, our texts cautions us not to meddle with it. We are enjoined to avoid quarrels, deceit, obscenity, foolish talk or coarse jokes with our neighbours. These may seem mild but they are sinful. Like deadly arrows and venom, they are dangerous and capable of destroying relationships. Christ has redeemed you from all forms of impurity that characterize the old nature. So, do not return to it any longer like “a dog that returns to it’s vomit” (2 Peter 2:22). A peep of pornography, a sip of alcohol, or a sniff of cocaine for curiosity and pleasure can plunge you into addiction. Do not romance any sinful attitude because it can lead to your destruction. If you are guilty, Christ is ready to forgive, cleanse and make you holy. Come to him.
REFLECTION:
Romancing sin stings like a deadly venom.
