TEXT: PSALM 34: 8-14.
8 Oh taste and see that Yahweh is good. Blessed is the man who takes refuge in him. [Psa 2:12] [Psa 84:12] [Pro 16:20] [Isa 30:18] [Isa 57:13] [Jer 17:7] [1Pe 2:3]
9 Oh fear Yahweh, you his saints, for there is no lack with those who fear him. [Pro 19:23]
10 The young lions do lack, and suffer hunger, but those who seek Yahweh shall not lack any good thing. Job 4:11 [1Sa 2:5] [Pro 13:25] [Luk 1:53]
11 Come, you children, listen to me. I will teach you the fear of Yahweh.
12 Who is someone who desires life, and loves many days, that he may see good? 1Pe 3:10
13 Keep your tongue from evil, and your lips from speaking lies. [Jas 1:26] [Jas 3:2]
14 Depart from evil, and do good. Seek peace, and pursue it. Heb 12:14 [Isa 1:16] [Amo 5:15]
TOPIC: TURN FROM EVIL.

MESSAGE:

Today’s passage presents some important admonitions for living:
(i) to taste and see the goodness of the Lord
(ii) to reverence the Lord
(iii) to keep one’s tongue from evil and their lips from speaking lies
(iv) to turn from evil and do good and
(v) to seek peace and pursue it.
No one can follow these admonitions however hard they try, you can only do so when you have encountered Christ. It is not enough to turn from evil but you must turn to good deeds. Doing this will promote peace. For example, when hardened criminals, witches or native doctors that have been terrorizing a community become born again, you see peace returning to the community and the people begin to live joyfully.
Are you a Christian yet involved in evil? Turn from it and pursue peace.

REFLECTION: Cease from your evil ways.

PRAYER: Lord, help me to forsake any evil in my life. Amen.
MEMORY VERSE FOR THE MONTH: PSALM 122:6-7
“Pray for the peace of Jerusalem: May those who love you be secure.
May there be peace… within your citadels.”
Today’s Reading Plan: Numbers 34-36.
