DAILY FASTING AND PRAYER FOR THE FORTHCOMING ANNUAL CONVENTION
DAY 5 – PRAYER OF MERCY
Scriptures: Romans 3:23, Romans 6:23, Psalm 103:11, Exodus 33:19
Theme: Mountain Movers
The RCCG Annual Convention is a time of divine visitation, supernatural encounters, and mountain-moving faith. As we prepare for this convention, we embark on a season of fasting and prayer, focusing each day on a specific theme that aligns our hearts with God’s purposes.
Day 5 is dedicated to the Prayer of Mercy. We come before God, acknowledging our need for His mercy—not because we deserve it, but because He is merciful. Mercy is the foundation upon which every other blessing is built.

Why the Prayer of Mercy?
1. We All Need Mercy
The Scripture is clear: “For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God” (Romans 3:23). None of us is perfect. None of us can stand before God on our own merit. We all need mercy—God’s unearned, undeserved favour and forgiveness.
2. The Wages of Sin Is Death, but the Gift of God Is Eternal Life
“For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord” (Romans 6:23). We deserve death, but God offers life. That is mercy. That is grace. When you pray for mercy, you are acknowledging that you deserve judgment but are asking for salvation.
3. God’s Mercy Is Abundant
“For as the heaven is high above the earth, so great is His mercy toward them that fear Him” (Psalm 103:11). God’s mercy is not limited—it is immeasurable. It is as vast as the heavens. No matter how great your sin, God’s mercy is greater. No matter how deep your failure, God’s mercy is deeper.
4. God’s Mercy Is Personal
“And He said, I will make all My goodness pass before thee, and I will proclaim the name of the Lord before thee; and will be gracious to whom I will be gracious, and will shew mercy on whom I will shew mercy” (Exodus 33:19). God’s mercy is not random—it is personal. He chooses to show mercy to you. He wants to show mercy to you. When you cry out for mercy, He hears.
What Is the Prayer of Mercy?
1. A Confession of Need
The prayer of mercy begins with humility. It is an acknowledgement that you cannot save yourself, heal yourself, or deliver yourself. You need God’s intervention.
2. A Cry for Forgiveness
The prayer of mercy is a cry for forgiveness. It is saying, “Lord, I have sinned. I have fallen short. I have failed. Please forgive me.”
3. A Plea for Help
The prayer of mercy is a plea for help. It is saying, “Lord, I cannot do this on my own. I need Your help. I need Your grace. I need Your intervention.”
4. A Declaration of Trust
The prayer of mercy is a declaration of trust. It is saying, “Lord, I trust that You are merciful. I trust that You will forgive. I trust that You will help.”
Prayer Points for Day 5
1. Confess Your Sins and Ask for Mercy
- Father, I confess my sins to You. I have sinned in thought, word, and deed. I have failed to love You with all my heart. I have failed to love my neighbour as myself. Please have mercy on me.
- Lord, I repent of every sin that has separated me from You. I turn away from my wicked ways. Please forgive me and cleanse me from all unrighteousness.
2. Thank God for His Mercy
- Lord, I thank You that Your mercy is new every morning. I thank You that Your mercy endures forever. I thank You that You do not treat me as my sins deserve.
- Lord, I thank You that Your mercy is greater than my failures. I thank You that Your mercy covers every mistake. I thank You that Your mercy gives me hope.
3. Ask for Mercy for Your Family
- Lord, have mercy on my family. Forgive every member of my household. Cover us with Your mercy. Let Your mercy surround us like a shield.
4. Ask for Mercy for the Church
- Lord, have mercy on Your Church. Forgive us for our divisions, our lukewarmness, and our compromise. Let mercy flow through the body of Christ.
5. Ask for Mercy for the Convention
- Lord, have mercy on the forthcoming Annual Convention. Let Your mercy be the foundation upon which every session is built. Let mercy speak for every attendee.
