TOPIC: SPIRITUAL BLESSINGS
BIBLE TEXT: Ephesians 1:3-14
[3]Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who hath blessed us with all spiritual blessings in heavenly places in Christ:
[4]According as he hath chosen us in him before the foundation of the world, that we should be holy and without blame before him in love:
[5]Having predestinated us unto the adoption of children by Jesus Christ to himself, according to the good pleasure of his will,
[6]To the praise of the glory of his grace, wherein he hath made us accepted in the beloved.
[7]In whom we have redemption through his blood, the forgiveness of sins, according to the riches of his grace;
[8]Wherein he hath abounded toward us in all wisdom and prudence;
[9]Having made known unto us the mystery of his will, according to his good pleasure which he hath purposed in himself:
[10]That in the dispensation of the fulness of times he might gather together in one all things in Christ, both which are in heaven, and which are on earth; even in him:
[11]In whom also we have obtained an inheritance, being predestinated according to the purpose of him who worketh all things after the counsel of his own will:
[12]That we should be to the praise of his glory, who first trusted in Christ.
[13]In whom ye also trusted, after that ye heard the word of truth, the gospel of your salvation: in whom also after that ye believed, ye were sealed with that holy Spirit of promise,
[14]Which is the earnest of our inheritance until the redemption of the purchased possession, unto the praise of his glory.
MEMORY VERSE: Ephesians 1:3″ Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who had blessed us with all spiritual blessings in heavenly places in Christ Jesus.
LESSON AIM: To enlighten children on the true meaning of Spiritual blessings
CENTRAL TRUTH: Children should desire spiritual blessings
INTRODUCTION: Spiritual blessings are divine blessings from God which cannot be gotten by human activities except they are
being pronounced on us by God Himself. There are steps to be taken in order to qualify for these
kind of blessings. There are physical blessings, material blessings etc. but spiritual blessings supersede all of them, simply because it is eternal, it cannot experience corruption and cannot be manipulated by anybody.
A. WHAT ARE SPIRITUAL BLESSINGS (EPHESIAN 1:1-20)
1. Chosen Before the Foundation of the World (v.4)To know you’ve been chosen before the foundation of the world is to know that your life matters.
2. Holy and Blameless (v.4) In Christ you are holy and blameless.
3. In His Love (v.4) In Christ you stand in agape or unconditional love. You cannot earn it.
4. Predestined to Adoption (v.5) God has predetermined to call you His Own in Christ. He has selected you to be His son or daughter.
5. Accepted in the Beloved (v.6)You are not rejected. You are not an outcast. You are not unworthy of approval. The Creator of the universe accepts you in Christ.
6. Redemption through His Blood (v.7) Outside of Christ you were a slave to sin and eternal death
7. Forgiveness of Sins (v.7)In your life you have turned your back on God morally. In Christ, you are forgiven today.
8. Riches of His Grace Abound to You (v.7-8) In Christ, there is an abundant measure of unmerited favor flowing to your life like a river that will last from here into the never-ending depths of eternity
9. Made Known to You the Mystery of His Will (v.9)
10. Obtained An Eternal Inheritance (v.11) Revelation 21:4
11. Heard the Word of Truth (v.13) God’s truth is a light in darkness.
12. Sealed with the Holy Spirit of Promise (v.13)
The Promise of the Holy Spirit that was prophesied about by Isaiah, Ezekiel, Zechariah, Joel, John the Baptist and Jesus has been made available to you in Christ today!
13. You Know the Hope of His Calling (v.18) His calling over your life is the basket you can put all of your eggs in.
14. You are the Riches of His Inheritance (v.18) You are of great value to Jesus.
15. The Exceeding Greatness of His Power (v.19-20)
16. The gifts of the Holy Spirit – 1 Corinthians 12:4-11, 28-30
17. The fruit of The Holy Spirit – Galatians 5:20-23
B. QUALIFICATIONS FOR SPIRITUAL BLESSINGS

1. Be humble. Matthew 5:3
2. Repent and be sorry for your sins. Matthew 5:4
3. Thirst after righteousness. Mathew 5:6
4. Show mercy. Matthew 5:7
5. Have faith.
CONCLUSION: These are blessings God has done for us through the Lord Jesus Christ. These blessings come from our relationship with Christ. Be careful to maintain a good relationship with God in order not to loose any of your spiritual blessings. Sin is a major threat to receiving and sustaining spiritual blessings.
INVITATION: Unless one has a divine encounter with Jesus, one doesn’t qualify for spiritual blessings
ACTIVITY: What other dimensions of blessings do we have? List at least four (4)
LIFE APPLICATION: Trust and obedience qualifies one for spiritual blessings
