BIBLE TEXT: GENESIS 13:1-6

[1]And Abram went up out of Egypt, he, and his wife, and all that he had, and Lot with him, into the south.

[2]And Abram was very rich in cattle, in silver, and in gold.

[3]And he went on his journeys from the south even to Bethel, unto the place where his tent had been at the beginning, between Bethel and Hai;

[4]Unto the place of the altar, which he had made there at the first: and there Abram called on the name of the LORD.

[5]And Lot also, which went with Abram, had flocks, and herds, and tents.

[6]And the land was not able to bear them, that they might dwell together: for their substance was great, so that they could not dwell together.

MEMORY VERSE: 1 Chronicles 29:12 “Both riches and honour come of thee, and thou reignest over all; and in thine hand is power and might; and in thine hand it is to make great, and to give strength unto all.”

LESSON AIM: God is the one that gives true riches and material blessing

CENTRAL TRUTH: As a child put your trust in God to supply your material needs.

INTRODUCTION: Material blessings are things relating to money, physical possessions, clothing, car, houses and things we buy with money. God’s will for His children is to live in abundance and not to experience scarcity or be a debtor.

This study will expose you to some of the material blessings God has bestowed upon you.

A. God and Material Blessings:

1. God own everything. he is the owner of money. Psalm 24, 1 Chronicles 29:12

2. Gold and Silver belong to Him Haggai 2:8

3. All the animals in the forest belong to Him Psalm 50:10

4. The land is His Leviticus 25:23

5. God wants us to be rich and not to be poor. Philippians 4:19

1) Honour God with it – Proverbs 3:9

2) Use material blessings for the expansion of God’s kingdom here on earth – Philippians 4:17-18.

3) Be a blessing to others particularly those in need in body of Christ – Galatians 6:10

4) Avoid wastage – John 6:1

5) Don’t become arrogant. Work hard and become successful in life but don’t think of yourself as better than others because of your material wealth. In Deuteronomy 8:18 Moses reminds us, “But remember the Lord your God, for it is he who gives you the ability to produce wealth.

6) Don’t put your hope in your wealth. Proverbs 23:5 says, “Cast but a glance at riches, and they are gone, for they will surely sprout wings and fly off to the sky like an eagle”. A good job or business and its steady earnings can be here today and gone tomorrow.

7) Be rich in good deeds. A good deed is a free and voluntary act of service toward another person. Doing good deeds for others is the fruit of your salvation in Jesus Christ. Ephesians 2:10 tells us: “For we are God’s workmanship, created in Christ Jesus to do good works.”

 Be content with what you have. Hebrews 13:5

9) Don’t love money. 1 Timothy 6:10

10) Pay your tithes and offering – Malachi 3:10

INVITATION: The world belongs to the Lords. Riches and honour enduring wealth and prosperity are with Him Pro 8;18 God is the only one that gives power to get wealth and you must give your heart to him to enjoy true riches.

CONCLUSION: God is the giver of all material blessings and He expects you to use your riches for His work here on earth.
