James 1:17-18

[17]Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, and cometh down from the Father of lights, with whom is no variableness, neither shadow of turning.

[18]Of his own will begat he us with the word of truth, that we should be a kind of firstfruits of his creatures.

Ephesians 1:3-19

[3]Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who hath blessed us with all spiritual blessings in heavenly places in Christ:

[4]According as he hath chosen us in him before the foundation of the world, that we should be holy and without blame before him in love:

[5]Having predestinated us unto the adoption of children by Jesus Christ to himself, according to the good pleasure of his will,

[6]To the praise of the glory of his grace, wherein he hath made us accepted in the beloved.

[7]In whom we have redemption through his blood, the forgiveness of sins, according to the riches of his grace;

[8]Wherein he hath abounded toward us in all wisdom and prudence;

[9]Having made known unto us the mystery of his will, according to his good pleasure which he hath purposed in himself:

MEMORY VERSE: ‘Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord in Jesus the heavenly Christ who has blessed us in Christ with every spiritual blessings in heavenly places’ Ephesians 1:3

LESSON AIM: At the end of this study, teens should know what spiritual blessings are.

CENTRAL TRUTH: God has blessed us with all spiritual blessings in heavenly places in Christ.

INTRODUCTION: Spiritual blessings are divine gifts for us, including God’s favour, peace, joy etc. They are benefits extending from the spiritual realm to the physical realm. The spiritual blessings are the blessings that the physical blessings are connected to. All things are first spiritual. The spiritual realm is more real than the physical realm.

In Eph 1:3, Paul is thanking God for the spiritual blessings rather than the physical blessings which we naturally gravitate towards. These blessings are in the heavenly realm. Even though they are unseen but they are of eternal value. 2 Cor 4:18. Anyone that is born again is qualified to partake of these spiritual blessings. They are so numerous but we will only consider a few.

What are these spiritual blessings?

The most important is the salvation Jesus gave us through His blood, forgiveness and redemption. Ephesians 1:7. This will open access to all other blessings that will be mentioned here;

1. Assurance of eternal life. John 3:16

2. Peace that passes all understanding John 14:27

3. Joy unspeakable. John 15:11

4. Adoption Ephesians 1:5-6; Romans 8:14-17

5. Access into God’s presence John 16:23-24; Ephesians 2:18

6. Joint heir with Christ

7. Reconciliation to God 2 Corinthians 5:18-20

How to keep our spiritual blessing:

1. Abide in God. John 15: 5-6.

2. Pray without ceasing. Matthew 26:41

3. Give thanks for them always. Philippians 4:6-7

4. Be consistent in service. Do not lose focus or sleep. Romans 12:1-2.

5. Avoid sin. Proverbs 28:13

DISCUSSION: The scriptures says that the blessings of Abraham are yours, what are these blessings and why are they yours?

LIFE APPLICATION: Look through the beatitudes and see how you can shape your character in each of the beatitudes to see the blessings attached to them in your life e.g Blessed are the meek, for they will inherit the earth

CONCLUSION: Every believer should desire spiritual blessings from God, they go a long way in your walk with God, it is indeed wonderful to be blessed by God.
