RCCG LOWER JUNIOR ZEAL AGE 6-8 TEACHER’S MANUAL 29TH JANUARY 2023 LESSON 22
INTRODUCTION:
It’s great to have friends, but do you know who the greatest friend of all is? God! God will never let you down. He will always keep his promises. You can depend on God to always be the same kind, loving, and good. Our God is a faithful God. This means that we can always count on him. God is a best friend to us and he wants us to be faithful to him, just like Joseph was.
PROGRESSION OF EVENTS
1. Jacob had twelve sons, but Joseph was his favourite, and his father made him a beautiful coat which he bragged about and that made his brothers jealous and angry.
2. One day, when they were all out in the fields, they threw Joseph into a pit! Things got worse when they sold Joseph as a slave. Then the brothers lied to their father, Jacob, that Joseph was killed by wild animals.
3. Joseph’s master treated him well. Later, Joseph was thrown into jail because his master’s wife lied about him, but the jailer liked Joseph and put him in charge of the prison.
4. One night, two prisoners had strange dreams. God helped Joseph understand their dreams. After that., the king of Egypt had a strange dream and he also called for Joseph to explain the dream.
5. Joseph told the king, “God has helped me understand your dream. There will be seven years of good times in Egypt and seven years of bad times.”
6. The king saw that God was with Joseph and he was very wise. He put Joseph in charge of all the land and all the food.
7. During the good years, Joseph saved lots of food. During the bad years, he gave food to hungry people.
8. One day, Joseph’s brothers came to Egypt for food but when they saw him they didn’t know it was him. When Joseph told them who he was, the brothers were very afraid.
9. They had been bad to Joseph and now he was very powerful but Joseph told them not to worry, for he had forgiven them. God has been with me this whole time.

GOSPEL CONNECTION: God was with Joseph because He was faithful and God loved him. God loves you and me and wants us to be Him at all times. God sent Son Jesus to take the punishment for your sins so that when you accept Him as Lord and Saviour, He will always help you.
CLIMAX: Joseph told them that God brought him to Egypt to save many people from going hungry. Joseph was glad to have his family back again, and his father, Jacob, was happy to see his son alive.
CONCLUSION: Joseph had some hard times in his life, but he still trusted God. And God was faithful to Joseph. Because of God’s plan, Joseph saved his family and the whole nation of Israel from starving.
CHALLENGE: Faithfulness means that our friends can depend on us to do what we say we will do and to do what is right. God is always faithful to do what He says and promises. He wants us to be faithful to His Word and to other people too.
INVITATION: To be able to be faithful, you need to call upon the Lord Jesus to be saved (Romans 10:13).
