BIBLE TEXT: 1 Kings 18: 1,2, 17-46

[1]And it came to pass after many days, that the word of the LORD came to Elijah in the third year, saying, Go, shew thyself unto Ahab; and I will send rain upon the earth.

[2]And Elijah went to shew himself unto Ahab. And there was a sore famine in Samaria.

[17]And it came to pass, when Ahab saw Elijah, that Ahab said unto him, Art thou he that troubleth Israel?

[18]And he answered, I have not troubled Israel; but thou, and thy father’s house, in that ye have forsaken the commandments of the LORD, and thou hast followed Baalim.

[19]Now therefore send, and gather to me all Israel unto mount Carmel, and the prophets of Baal four hundred and fifty, and the prophets of the groves four hundred, which eat at Jezebel’s table.

[20]So Ahab sent unto all the children of Israel, and gathered the prophets together unto mount Carmel.

[21]And Elijah came unto all the people, and said, How long halt ye between two opinions? if the LORD be God, follow him: but if Baal, then follow him. And the people answered him not a word.

[22]Then said Elijah unto the people, I, even I only, remain a prophet of the LORD; but Baal’s prophets are four hundred and fifty men,…………

We all have dreams for how our lives will -or should- out. Many times these are dreams that have been impressed on us by God Himself. But when will they stop being dreams and turn into reality? When will these dreams be fulfilled?

Have you ever stopped to consider how your relationships with God affect your dreams?

Your relationships with God mirror what your life looks like.

Your first important relationship in your life was the one with your parents.

We are not only born on purpose, but we are born purpose.

The most important conversation you can have about dreams is with your heavenly Father.

A. Elijah confronted Ahab as God instructed him after the drought, that rain is imminent.

B. King Ahab blessed Elijah for the drought, but Elijah reminded him that God had sent it because Ahab had led the people to serve idol

C. Eliah challenged the 450 prophets of Baal and 400 prophets of Ashera to a contest on Mount Camel.

D. Elijah sternly told the people to decide between God and Baal.

The people of Israel had double standards, combined the worship of Baal with worship of the living and true God.

Exodus 20:3-5. Some Christians wants to worship God and mammon, yet they give other things first place in their lives e.g. wealth, clothes, television, sports these things are not sin but they become sin when you make them more important than God, Matthew 6:19, 21. So Elijah warned Israelites to choose between God and Baal.

E. Elijah explained how the challenge would be carried out to the people

F. Baal prophets called their gods, but received no answer. Baal could not answer because he was false god. Only God the Creator who lives in heaven can answer prayers.

Jeremiah 3:3.

This living and true God loves you and wants you to call on Him to save you from your sin. Romans 10:13.

Sin can separates you from God. Jesus made payment for your sins with His precious blood Isaiah 53:6.

If you call on Jesus to save you, He will give you eternal life.

Baal or those things you made more important than God cannot give you eternal life.

G. God shew the people that He was the true God, as Elijah prayed.

H. God sent fire and completely consuming Elijah’s sacrifice.

God showed his power and spiritual blessing in the life of Elijah. You too can have a good relationship with God. As you are prepared to give God his rightful place in your life, He will bless you spiritually and meet all your need Matthew 6:33. Elijah had a great relationship with God, that is why He supported him in place of confrontation by the devils

CLIMAX: The Lord is God, as claimed by the people, when they saw the wonders of God

CONCLUSION: Elijah was endowed with spiritual blessing. The prophets of Baal were completely destroyed and Elijah announced the end of drought and went to pray. God sent heavy rain, ending the drought.

CHALLENGE: As a child of God, ask God to give you spiritual blessings, so that through you people will accept and worship God as the true God. You need the power of God to overcome all the lies of the devil. Pray, ask for the power of God in your life so you can live a victoriously as a child of God.
