BIBLE TEXT: Matthew 3:13-17;4:11,Acts 2:1-21.
Matthew 3:13-17
[13]Then cometh Jesus from Galilee to Jordan unto John, to be baptized of him.
[14]But John forbad him, saying, I have need to be baptized of thee, and comest thou to me?
[15]And Jesus answering said unto him, Suffer it to be so now: for thus it becometh us to fulfil all righteousness. Then he suffered him.
[16]And Jesus, when he was baptized, went up straightway out of the water: and, lo, the heavens were opened unto him, and he saw the Spirit of God descending like a dove, and lighting upon him:
[17]And lo a voice from heaven, saying, This is my beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased.
Matthew 4:11
[11]Then the devil leaveth him, and, behold, angels came and ministered unto him.
Acts 2:1-21
[1]And when the day of Pentecost was fully come, they were all with one accord in one place.
[2]And suddenly there came a sound from heaven as of a rushing mighty wind, and it filled all the house where they were sitting.
[3]And there appeared unto them cloven tongues like as of fire, and it sat upon each of them.
[4]And they were all filled with the Holy Ghost, and began to speak with other tongues, as the Spirit gave them utterance.
[5]And there were dwelling at Jerusalem Jews, devout men, out of every nation under heaven.
[6]Now when this was noised abroad, the multitude came together, and were confounded, because that every man heard them speak in his own language.
[7]And they were all amazed and marvelled, saying one to another, Behold, are not all these which speak Galilaeans?
[8]And how hear we every man in our own tongue, wherein we were born?
[9]Parthians, and Medes, and Elamites, and the dwellers in Mesopotamia, and in Judaea, and Cappadocia, in Pontus, and Asia,
[10]Phrygia, and Pamphylia, in Egypt, and in the parts of Libya about Cyrene, and strangers of Rome, Jews and proselytes,
[11]Cretes and Arabians, we do hear them speak in our tongues the wonderful works of God.
[12]And they were all amazed, and were in doubt, saying one to another, What meaneth this?
[13]Others mocking said, These men are full of new wine.
[14]But Peter, standing up with the eleven, lifted up his voice, and said unto them, Ye men of Judaea, and all ye that dwell at Jerusalem, be this known unto you, and hearken to my words:
[15]For these are not drunken, as ye suppose, seeing it is but the third hour of the day.
[16]But this is that which was spoken by the prophet Joel;
[17]And it shall come to pass in the last days, saith God, I will pour out of my Spirit upon all flesh: and your sons and your daughters shall prophesy, and your young men shall see visions, and your old men shall dream dreams:
[18]And on my servants and on my handmaidens I will pour out in those days of my Spirit; and they shall prophesy:
[19]And I will shew wonders in heaven above, and signs in the earth beneath; blood, and fire, and vapour of smoke:
[20]The sun shall be turned into darkness, and the moon into blood, before that great and notable day of the Lord come:
[21]And it shall come to pass, that whosoever shall call on the name of the Lord shall be saved.
MEMORY VERSE: Acts 1:8a “But you shall receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you”.
LESSON AIM:The Holy Spirit is a gift of God to empower you.
CHILD RELATED TRUTH:You should allow the manifestation of the Holy Spirit in your life.
INTRODUCTION:The Holy Spirit is God therefore He requires your fellowship and submission. He gives power for service since the Old Testament to New Testament and even more in the World today.

A. Then Jesus came to Galilee to John at the Jordan to be baptized by Him vs. 13.
B. And John tried to prevent Him “I need to be baptized by you and you are coming to me?” but Jesus answered and said “permit it to be so now, for thus it is fitting for us to fulfill all righteousness”. Then He allowed him vs. 14,15.
C. When He had been baptized, Jesus came up immediately from the water and behold; the heavens were opened to Him, and He saw the Spirit of God descending like a dove and alighting upon Him vs. 16. The Holy Spirit manifested bodily upon Jesus.
D. And suddenly a voice came from heaven saying “This is my beloved Son in whom I am well pleased” vs. 17. God spoke from heaven to officially introduce Jesus as the beloved Son.
E. Then Jesus was led up by the Spirit into the wilderness to be tempted by the devil 4:1.
F. Devil came and tempted Jesus three times after Jesus had fasted for forty days and forty nights.
I. If you are the Son of God command that these stones become bread. Jesus answered “it is written man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceeds from the mouth of God”.
II. Then the devil took Him up into the holy city and set Him in the pinnacle of the temple and said to Him, “if you are the Son of God throw yourself down for it is written, He shall give His angels charge over you.” Jesus said to him “it is written you shall not tempt the Lord your God.”
III. Devil took Jesus to an exceedingly high mountain and showed Him all the kingdoms of the world and their glory and said to Him;
“All these things I will give you if you will fall down and worship me”. Then Jesus said to him “Away with you Satan! For it is written, “you shall worship the Lord your God and Him only you shall serve”
CLIMAX: Then the devil left Him and behold angels came aid ministered to Him.
CONCLUSION: Jesus overcame Satan by the power of the Holy Spirit from there He started His earthly ministry. Also in Acts 2:1-2, after the Holy Spirit came upon the disciples at the Upper room on the day of Pentecost. Peter became bold to preach a sermon that won three thousand souls, he was no longer afraid.
CHALLENGE: You too need the Holy Spirit to do what God wants you to do in life and also to tell your friends about Jesus. Ask for the manifestation of the Holy Spirit in your life, so you can become a true child of God.
INVITATION: Accept Jesus to day and thereafter be filled with the Holy Spirit. Romans 10:13.
