TOPIC: HE NEEDS YOUR MOUTH

MEMORISE:
How then shall they call on him in whom they have not believed? and how shall they believe in him of whom they have not heard? and how shall they hear without a preacher?
Romans 10:14
READ: Mark 16:14-17
Afterward he appeared unto the eleven as they sat at meat, and upbraided them with their unbelief and hardness of heart, because they believed not them which had seen him after he was risen.
15 And he said unto them, Go ye into all the world, and preach the gospel to every creature.
16 He that believeth and is baptized shall be saved; but he that believeth not shall be damned.
17 And these signs shall follow them that believe; In my name shall they cast out devils; they shall speak with new tongues;

God wants the whole world to hear about Him. He wants unbelievers to become born again and experience His love (1 Timothy 2:3-4). However, He does not preach sermons; hence, He needs people who will go into the world and preach the gospel. In Acts 9:4-5, Paul was on his way to Damascus when he had an encounter with Jesus. However, Jesus still needed someone to preach the gospel to Paul and lead him to salvation; hence, He appeared to Ananias in a vision and instructed him on where to meet Paul (Acts 9:10-11).
Today’s memory verse says that people cannot hear the gospel or believe in Jesus Christ unless someone preaches to them. Jesus commissioned ALL His followers to preach the gospel (Matthew 28:19-20), so you do not have any tenable excuse not to preach. Jeremiah 1:7 says, “…Say not, I am a child: for thou shalt go to all that I shall send thee, and whatsoever I command thee thou shalt speak.” The Lord needs you to use your mouth to introduce Him to the world.
God also needs you to use your mouth to heal the sick and cast out demons. In Matthew 10:8, the Bible says, “Heal the sick, cleanse the lepers, raise the dead, cast out devils: freely ye have received, freely give.” He also needs your mouth to intercede on behalf of your nation. In Ezekiel 22:30, God said that He sought a man to stand in the gap for the land so that He wouldn’t destroy it; unfortunately, He found none. I pray that you will not be found missing when God is seeking someone to stand in the gap for your nation.
God needs your mouth to praise Him. Hebrews 13:15 instructs us to offer the sacrifice of praise to God continually. In Luke 19:35-40, when Jesus entered Jerusalem on a donkey, the whole multitude of disciples began to rejoice and praise God with a loud voice for all the mighty works they had seen. With their mouths, they proclaimed, “Blessed be the King that cometh in the name of the Lord: peace in heaven, and glory in the highest.”
When the Pharisees asked Jesus to stop the people from praising, He told them that if people refused to praise Him, the stones would cry out in praise immediately. I pray that stones will not replace you in praising God, in Jesus’ name.
KEY POINT
God needs your mouth to fulfil His purposes on earth.

OPEN HEAVENS DEVOTIONAL 8 NOVEMBER 2026 COMMENTARY
Yesterday, Daddy reminded us that God needs our hands. Today, he takes it further: God needs your mouth. It is interesting that the God of the universe chooses to work through human vessels — not because He has no other option, but because He desires partnership with His children.
Today’s devotional, “He Needs Your Mouth,” shows us that God wants the whole world to hear about Him. Your mouth is a powerful instrument in God’s hands.
God Wants Everyone to Be Saved and Experience His Love
This is the heartbeat behind everything God does. 1 Timothy 2:3-4 says that God “will have all men to be saved, and to come unto the knowledge of the truth.” This is not a distant theological concept — it is the passion of God’s heart.
You encounter people every day who do not know Jesus. A hardened colleague, a prodigal family, and an unbeliever neighbour. It’s tempting to forsake them, snub them and hate them. However, know that God loves them and desires that they come to salvation. Same way God desired Paul, who was persecuting the church, to be saved; and he was!
He Needs Your Mouth to Preach the Gospel and Heal the Sick
Romans 10:14 says, “How then shall they call on him in whom they have not believed? and how shall they believe in him of whom they have not heard? and how shall they hear without a preacher?” You may say, “I cannot preach”. Jesus says, “Be my witness” (Acts 1:8). Tell people what Jesus has done for you.
Matthew 10:8 says, “Heal the sick, cleanse the lepers, raise the dead, cast out devils: freely ye have received, freely give.” As a child of God, your words carry authority. Don’t be afraid or in doubt when you declare life, healing, and freedom in people’s lives. You are speaking in the name of Jesus, not in your name.
He Needs Your Mouth to Praise Him
Praise comes from the heart, but it is expressed through the mouth. Hebrews 13:15 says, “By him therefore let us offer the sacrifice of praise to God continually, that is, the fruit of our lips giving thanks to his name.” When Jesus entered Jerusalem on a donkey, people praised God with their mouths. Don’t let stones replace you in praising God.
Praise is sacrificial; it should cost you something. Your situation may be hard, but your mouth was created to give Him glory. Here is the mystery of praise: The dead cannot praise God (Psalm 115:17). Hence, as you praise God, dead things in you and around you come to life.
Your Voice Is an Instrument of God
God is calling you to use your mouth for His glory. Imagine the difference your mouth can make in the lives of those around you: a word of truth spoken to someone who has never heard the gospel, a prayer of healing over someone who is suffering, a song of praise that shifts the atmosphere around you.
Let this truth inspire you to speak boldly for God this week. Your voice can be the voice that leads someone to Jesus, that brings healing to a broken body, that releases praise into the presence of God.
Action Steps
- Speak the gospel to someone this week. Identify one person in your life who does not know Jesus, and make a deliberate effort to share your testimony of the love of Christ.
- Use your mouth to pray for the sick. Set aside time this week to speak healing over the sick in your family or church, and to stand in the gap for your nation in prayer.
- Make praise a daily practice. Every day this week, intentionally praise God with your mouth — in your car, at home, at work. Let your voice rise to Him.Explore Faiths
Prayer Points
- Father, I thank You for the gift of my mouth and for the privilege of being Your voice on earth.
- Lord, give me boldness to preach the gospel to everyone You bring my way, in Jesus’ name.
- Father, use my mouth to heal the sick and cast out demons. To exercise Your authority and release Your power, in Jesus’ name.
- Lord, I pray for my nation, interceding for Your mercy and revival, in Jesus’ name.
- Father, let stones never replace me in praising You. Help me to offer the sacrifice of praise continually, no matter what I face, in Jesus’ name.
- Lord, let my mouth speak words that bring life, hope, and encouragement to others. Guard my tongue from evil and use it for Your glory, in Jesus’ name.
- Father, as I use my mouth for You, let signs and wonders follow my words in Jesus’ name.
