We long for Sunday School.

Poured His blessing on Thee

Though the sun be so bright,
Or if the clouds be black with rain,
I’ll be in Sunday School.
6. O Sunday School, on the Lord’s day

BIBLE PASSAGE: Psalms 127:1-5.
[1](A Song of degrees for Solomon.) Except the LORD build the house, they labour in vain that build it: except the LORD keep the city, the watchman waketh but in vain.
[2]It is vain for you to rise up early, to sit up late, to eat the bread of sorrows: for so he giveth his beloved sleep.
[3]Lo, children are an heritage of the LORD: and the fruit of the womb is his reward.
[4]As arrows are in the hand of a mighty man; so are children of the youth.
[5]Happy is the man that hath his quiver full of them: they shall not be ashamed, but they shall speak with the enemies in the gate.
MEMORY VERSE: “For I know him, that he will command his children and his household after him, and they shall keep the way of the LORD, to do justice and judgment; that the LORD may bring upon Abraham that which he hath spoken of him”. Genesis 18:19.

LESSON INTRODUCTION: Parenting refers to the aspect of raising a child from infancy to adulthood. The most common partaker is the biological parent of the child. Parenting in the 21St century involves parent-child relationship. The parent-child relationship must be based on love, truth, openness, honour, obedience, discipline and provision. Parenting can be difficult and challenging, but at the same time the most rewarding and fulfilling things we ever do. The Bible has a great deal to say about the way we can successfully raise our children to be great men and women of God. It is easier to train a child than to repair an adult.

Teacher should use the lecture teaching method to deliver the Outline 2 (to save time).
To bridge the gap between the biblical pattern and the modern pattern of parenting, the
following biblical principles could applied:
<-[if IsupportLists]->i. <l-(endifl-> *Apply the rod of correction (Prov.22:15)*. This is not the rod of abuse, but correction. An abused child will suffer great trauma, but a child who is properly corrected will enjoy peace.
<-[if supportLists]->ii. <l-[endif]- >*Discipline promptly (Prov.13:24)*. Discipline has to do with understanding that various ways of correcting wrong doing with the goal of inculcating the confidence to do right always. <l-[if supportLists]->ii. <-[endif]->*Begin training early (Prov.19:18)*. Many lives have been ruined due to the negligence of some parents by excusing or over looking the wrong doings of their children instead of correcting them early.
<-[if supportLists]->iv. <-[endif]->*Be a role model. (2 Tim.1:5).*
<!-[if IsupportListsl->v. <l-[endif]-> *Teach them the word of God. (Deut.6:6-7)*.
