LESSON SEVENTEEN (17) TOPIC: BEAR FRUITS OF CHARACTER
BIBLE TEXT: Galatians 5:22-23
[22]But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith,
[23]Meekness, temperance: against such there is no law.

MEMORY VERSE: Matthew 7:19-20 “Every tree that bringeth not forth good fruit is hewn down, and cast into the fire. Wherefore by their fruits ye shall know them”.
LESSON AIM: Teenagers will learn that fruits of character come through the help of the Holy Spirit.
CENTRAL TRUTH: True character is a result of a growing relationship with God.
INTRODUCTION: If you have a tree that is mature but doesn’t bear fruits for about 5 years, after a while you will consider cutting it down because it is merely occupying space. As children of God, we must bear fruits of
character being examples of believers indeed, wherever we are. We are the epistle read of all men – 2 Corinthians 3:2.
STUDY GUIDE:
A. What does it mean to bear Fruits? It means to produce fruits after its own kind. You can’t plant yam and expect to harvest pineapple, never, the same way a cow can’t give birth to a monkey.
B. What are the fruits of Character? They are the fruits of the regenerated human spirit. Characters that should be manifested by the new man in Christ – Gal. 5:22-23
Fruit of the spirit include;
•Love
•Joy
•Peace
•Longsuffering
•Kindness
•Faithfulness
•Gentleness
C. How can bear fruits of Character?
These fruits of character won’t manifest by default but as we allow the workings of the Holy Spirit in us through the following medium;
i. Abiding in Christ -John 15:1-5
ii. Meditate on the Word -Joshu 1:8
iii. Prayers – Luke 18:1; 1 Thess. 5:17
iv. Regular study of the Word- Prov 4:20-22
INVITATION/APPLICATION: To bear fruits you have to be connected to the vine – John 15:5. Fellowship with God in His word and prayer, to grow and bear fruits of character. Love is key and God is love, so receive His love then you can now bear fruits of righteousness.
CONCLUSION:
You have the capacity to love like God, you are expected to bear fruits of righteousness, bearing fruits of character is visible as you grow in your walk with God.
