KEYNOTE REMARKS BY HIS EXCELLENCY MR BABAJIDE SANWOOLU (CON) – THE EXECUTIVE GOVERNOR OF LAGOS STATE DURING THE OFFICIAL DEDICATION AND COMMISIONING OF THE TRINITY TOWERS OF RCCG CITY OF DAVID ON SUNDAY, 12TH FEBRUARY 2023

BRIEF INTRODUCTION OF HIS EXCELLENCY MR BABAJIDE SANWOOLU (CON) – THE EXECUTIVE GOVERNOR OF LAGOS STATE BY PASTOR IDOWU OLUSOLA ILUYOMADE (PIC, RCCG CITY OF DAVID)

You know, the Theme for this Service is: “THE ZEAL OF THE LORD”.

We really didn’t think that we could build this.

When we asked for Approval, it was for six (6) Floors. But by the time the Approval came from the Lagos State Government, they gave us the Approval for fourteen (14) Floors.

We reduced it to twelve (12) Floors but at the end of it all, we found out that the Lifts stop sixteen (16) times – So, we can say in a manner of speaking that this is a 16-Floor Building.

If God wants to do something; you cannot Change it!

So, the Governor of Lagos State is here – He is one of those God used to put us into this ‘Wahala’ (Meaning Trouble). We wanted six (6) Floors but they gave us fourteen (14) Floors.

So, you must have something to say – God used him as a Tool and I will like to bring up our Governor.

And you know that we have not finished – Our money was for six (6) Floors but God used him to say that you must build fourteen (14) Floors.

So, he is here to celebrate with us!

Praise the Lord – Hallelujah! Good Morning Church!

Our Daddy and our Mummy; Thank You very much for coming to this other side of the Town to Worship with us.

My Brother and Egbon (DMC NOTES: “Egbon” means Senior Brother) – Mr Vice President. Thank You once again for coming out of your very, very busy Schedules.

And all our Attendees – Senior Pastors and everyone who has been Part of this Great occasion this morning.

I stand here “Very Humbled” as your Governor. But more importantly, I have the rare Privilege of being Part of the Official Unveiling and the Commissioning of The Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG) City of David’s Trinity Towers.

We are at the Centre of Excellence, in the State of Aquatic Splendor, the Commercial Economic Niche of our Country; into a City that means so many things to all of us – A Place we all call home, a Place that birth several, several men and women of no mean feat.

On behalf of the Government and the Good People of Lagos State, we feel truly Privileged that here in Oniru-Land, the heart of Victoria Island; The Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG) has birth another first.

This is not just a Sanctuary; this is a befitting edifice that God Himself will be Proud of.

This is an “Architectural Feat”; a “Well Thoight-Out” Project and one that indeed gladdens the Heart of everyone.

And like Pastor ID said: Nothing is Impossible with God. Indeed Man Proposes, but God Disposes.

With all the difficulty in Lagos State to get Approval; God ‘Showed Up’.

And God ‘Showed Up’ in a Big Way – God built. We can only attempt to do something but God has a Big Plan and you can see that indeed, this Place is fit for the Purpose and it is an edifice that one has to be truly, truly be Proud of.

And if I may chip in as a Government; I know that the road infront of this Place (Trinity Towers) used to be ‘Face-Me-I-Face-You’ – Is it not so?

Your Government and your Governor has now turned it to a “Dual Carriage Way” so that it can carry the Load and it can carry the Commercial Activities that compliments an “Outstanding Iconic Edifice” like this.

And I think that it is appropriate that on behalf of the Lagos State Government to thank Pastor ID, Pastor Siju and all of you at the Position of Leadership at The RCCG City of David.

As a Young Man, before they Pulled off from the Great Apapa Parish then in Surulere in Odutola Street (DMC NOTES: “Odutola Street in Surulere” is a Town Location in Lagos State Nigeria) – I’m sure that we all know where we all started from and then it moved to Lagoon.

In those days, when you go to RCCG City of David; you can be rest assured that you will get a “Coffee Mug” that you will take back home then. But the Church is moving on and we will all continue to remember what it has turned to now.

It is to talk about all the Transformations that has happened in the two (2) to three (3) Decades that the City of David has been birthed.

DMC NOTES: Some basic things you need to know about the Glorious Humble Beginning of The RCCG Apapa Family:

Apapa Family – A Family of Change Agents, Initiators, Pioneers, Setting Standards, Breeding New Grounds, Poised to take the Lead and be the New Champions of the New World Order. They are distinguished by their ‘Spirit of Excellence’; Going beyond Average; Climbing Higher, Setting Standards, Reaching beyond the Marks, Breaking already laid down Records, Reclaiming Lost Grounds, Charting New Courses and Blazing Trials with Increased Passions and Favour.

Apapa Family started in the Year 1991 as a Product of Prophetic Visions birth thirty-two (32) Years ago by our General Overseer and Father-In-The-Lord – Pastor E.A Adeboye; ably assisted by our Mother-In-Isreal – Pastor (Mrs) Folu Adeboye; cummutating in his mandating fifty (50) Workers from the Headquarters of The Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG) in Ebute Metta (Lagos State Nigeria) to set up a Church for People like themselves – Young, Upwardly, Mobile Educated Professionals and led by Pastor Tony Rapu (PT as he was fondly called then); himself being a Medical Doctor.

The Parish at Apapa, headed by Pastor Tony Rapu was started as one of the two (2) Model Parishes (English Speaking without Yoruba Translation). Pastor Tunde Bakare was the first to be Posted out and Headed the other Model Parish at Ladipo Street in Ikeja.

Unable to get a suitable venue in Surulere (Lagos State Nigeria); the Church then started out at Roxy Cinema in Apapa (Lagos State Nigeria) from where it grew to what is now known as “The Apapa Family” with over one thousand, two hundred (1,200) Parishes in Nigeria and several Parishes in over twenty three (23) Nations of the world across five (5) Continents – Africa, North America, Europe, Asia and Oceania.

From the Roxy Cinema at Apapa, they moved to the Freedom Hall at Jibowu Odutola Street in Eric Moore Surulere Lagos State.

By September 1996, Freedom Hall was splitted into about five (5) Parishes with City of David as one of them and Pastor Eskor Mfon assumed the Leadership of The RCCG Apapa Family from Pastor Tony Rapu

On the 30th of April, 2007; our beloveth Pastor Eskor Mfon Passed on to Glory and on the 16th of September 2007, Pastor ID and wife was transferred to RCCG City of David from RCCG King’s Court Chapel Lagoon Restaurant Victoria Island as the New Head of The RCCG Apapa Family.

The Apapa Family Story is an “Unending Sustainable Story”. And it is like a City Apostle Paul described in Hebrews 11:10 that: “The Architect of that City and Builder is God”.

And I want to Thank You sir, for using this Church, for using this Parish, for using what God has given to you to bless others with the Charity that this Church Preaches.

You know your Charity Shops, Hospitals, several other People that are Vulnerable in our Society that you have used the Pulpit, you have used the Church to bring succor to. You have blessed them, you have given them Life, you have given them Sources to believe in themselves.

This is really what Government should be doing but you remember and my daddy-in-the-Lord will know that the first Government is the Church. And so you are doing the right thing that Pleases God.

And so, we see a Partner in Governance, we see a “Real Partner” in the Development of a Society, we see a “True Partner” at ensuring that the Society will be better than how we met it.

I want to thank all of You like my brother: Pastor Tonye Patrick Cole said – The job is not completely finished but it is not who start but how well we finished and this Church need to finish Strong.

He has rolled out some of the things we still need to fix and I can tell you that as a Government, we will Support, Individually I will also Support and we can do some things to ensure that we will finish Strong and we will finish Well.

And for me, it is really to Thank all of you to bear with all the Challenges that we have in our Country and to say that we have no other Place – This is our Country, this is our Home.

With the kind of things that I see here, then the Country has a lot of Hope ahead and a lot of Opportunities ahead.

And I want to Thank You for the Pieces of Patience that you have.

And our Mummy as well (Pastor (Mrs) Folu Adeboye); you will live long to see “Bigger Trinity Houses” like this in which you will still come and Commissioned for us.
