MESSAGE
The call to salvation is far more than just being saved from sin: it is a call to commitment. What is commitment? Commitment is defined as a pledge or promise to do something. It’s also a state of being dedicated or devoted to something. If you can recall the day you gave your life to Christ, you would remember that you said you would give Him everything.
Unfortunately, many believers are guilty of breaking that promise to the Lord as they find it difficult to study God’s word, win souls, or give their resources to advance His work, yet they claim they are committed to Him.
If you find it difficult to let go of some bad habits, it means that your level of commitment to God is low, and you will be unable to access the power in His word. You will also not be able to perform certain miracles. Check your commitment level today and do the needful.
REFLECTION:
Are you truly committed to the Lord?
HYMN 9 – O Jesus, I Have Promised
- O Jesus, I have promised
To serve Thee to the end;
Be Thou for ever near me,
My Master and my Friend:
I shall not fear the battle
If Thou art by my side,
Nor wander from the pathway
If Thou wilt be my Guide. - O let me feel Thee near me;
The world is ever near;
I see the sights that dazzle,
The tempting sounds I hear;
My foes are ever near me,
Around me and within;
But, Jesus, draw Thou nearer,
And shield my soul from sin. - O let me hear Thee speaking
In accents clear and still,
Above the storms of passion,
The murmurs of self-will;
O speak to reassure me,
To hasten or control;
O speak and make me listen,
Thou Guardian of my soul. - O Jesus, Thou hast promised
To all who follow Thee,
That where Thou art in Glory
There shall Thy servant be;
And, Jesus, I have promised
To serve Thee to the end;
O give me grace to follow
My Master and my Friend.
