1 FEBRUARY 2023 Daily Walk With Christ COCIN Devotional

Welcome to the month of February. This month focuses on, “Seeking the peace of the land” in obedience to the Scripture that admonishes us to seek for the peace of our Jerusalem (our hometowns, Psalm 122:6) and the prosperity of Babylon (our city of residence, Jeremiah 29:7). Families, places of work, church and society are wrecked with all kinds of conflicts and violence. We desperately need peace in the land.
However, the peace of the land is not possible without peace in the hearts of the inhabitants. Hence, this month focuses on practical steps we can take to seek the peace of the land. Let God help us to earnestly seek and find peace in the land. Amen.
“Pray for the peace of Jerusalem: May those who love you be secure.
May there be peace… within your citadels.”

1 “You are not to make worthless idols, images, or pillars for yourselves, nor set up for yourselves carved images to bow down to them in the land, because I am the LORD your God. Exo 20:4 Deu 5:8 Deu 16:22 Psa 97:7 [Jdg 2:15]
2 “You are to keep my Sabbath and fear my sanctuary. I am the LORD. Lev 19:30 [Lev 19:3]
3 “If you live by my statutes, obey my commands, and observe them, Deu 28:1 [Deu 7:12] [Jer 11:4]
4 then I’ll send your rain in its season so that the land will yield its produce and the trees of the field will yield their fruit.
5 Threshing will extend to the time of vintage and the vintage will extend to the time of sowing, so that you’ll eat your bread to your satisfaction and live securely in your land. Lev 25:19 [1Ki 4:25] [Job 11:18] [Psa 4:8]
6 I’ll give peace in the land so that you’ll lie down without fear. I’ll remove wild beasts from the land, and not even war will come to your land. Job 11:18-19 [Job 11:19]
7 Instead, you’ll pursue your enemies and they’ll die by the sword before you.
8 Five of you will chase a hundred, a hundred of you will chase ten thousand, and your enemies will fall by the sword before you. Jos 23:10
9 “I’ll look after you, ensuring that you’ll be fruitful. I’ll increase your number and keep my covenant with you.
10 When you have consumed what was stored of the old, then you’ll take out the old and replace it with what’s new.

Peace is an attribute of God, and he grants it to those who obey Him. In today’s text, God promises that if we obey him and follow all his decrees, He will bless our land with rain in its season, abundant yield of crops and grant peace in the land such that no one will make us afraid. The peace that God grants is wholistic, involving abundance of food, health, all basic necessities of life, and a peaceful environment. Without peace, other sectors such as economy, education, religion, and transportation cannot function well. Despite several peace talks in our country, conflicts and violence are on the increase. However, we should remember to first of all turn away from sins and obey God in everything, so that he will bless our peace-building efforts with peace in the land.

Obey God and enjoy peace.
Oh Lord, help us to walk in obedience to your commands. Amen.

“Daily Devotionals for February: The Importance of Getting Closer to God in the Month of Love”

February, the month of love, is the perfect time for Christians to get closer to God and deepen their relationship with Him. While love is often associated with romance, the love that Christians are called to cultivate is a love for God and for others. Daily devotionals are a powerful tool to help us do this.

Devotionals are a form of spiritual reflection that allows us to focus on God’s word, to meditate on His promises, and to deepen our understanding of His love for us. By taking time each day to reflect on God’s love, we can grow in our faith and be transformed by the renewing of our minds (Romans 12:2).

In February, we are reminded of the ultimate act of love – the sacrifice of Jesus on the cross. By reading and reflecting on scripture, we can better understand and appreciate the depth of God’s love for us. This, in turn, can motivate us to love others more deeply, as well as to live a life of service to God.

Daily devotionals can also help us maintain a consistent spiritual discipline and stay focused on our faith journey. It’s easy to get caught up in the distractions of everyday life and neglect our spiritual growth. But by setting aside time each day for devotions, we can remain steadfast in our faith and grow in our love for God.

Happy New Month! May the love of God shine upon you and fill your heart with joy and peace. May you be blessed with good health, happiness, and success in all that you do. May this month bring you closer to God and help you grow in your faith.
