[7]Nevertheless I tell you the truth; It is expedient for you that I go away: for if I go not away, the Comforter will not come unto you; but if I depart, I will send him unto you.

[8]And when he is come, he will reprove the world of sin, and of righteousness, and of judgment:

[9]Of sin, because they believe not on me;

[10]Of righteousness, because I go to my Father, and ye see me no more;

[11]Of judgment, because the prince of this world is judged.

[12]I have yet many things to say unto you, but ye cannot bear them now.

[13]Howbeit when he, the Spirit of truth, is come, he will guide you into all truth: for he shall not speak of himself; but whatsoever he shall hear, that shall he speak: and he will shew you things to come.

[14]He shall glorify me: for he shall receive of mine, and shall shew it unto you.

MEMORY VERSE: John 14:26 “But the Comforter, which is the Holy Ghost, whom the Father will send in my name, he shall teach you all things, and bring all things to your remembrance, whatsoever I have said unto you.”

LESSON AIM: To let the children know the Holy Spirit.

CENTRAL TRUTH: Holy Spirit is a person.

INTRODUCTION: The Holy Spirit is not just a power but a real person. The Holy Spirit is revealed by Jesus in the scriptures as a divine person (John 14:16,17,26). He is the third person of the Holy Trinity and actively involved in the work of creation and the work of salvation (Matthew 28:19-20; 2 Corin. 13:14). He is God (Acts 5:3-4). He has been with the Father from the beginning, sharing the work of creation with the Godhead (Genesis 1:2; Job 26:13). He has the attributes of knowledge, intelligence, feelings, affectionate. etc. Holy Spirit should not be mistaken for an influence.

A. SYMBOLS: The bible used a variety of symbols to represent the Holy spirit;

1. Fire- Acts 2:1-4, Exodus 3:2

2. Water- John 4:10-11, Matthew 3:11

3. Dove- Matthew 3:16, Mark 1:10, Luke 3:22, John 1:32

4. Oil- Acts 10:38, 1 John 2:20-27

5. Wind- John 3:8

B. THE PERSONALITY OF THE HOLY SPIRIT

– Holy Spirit, being God, can feel and has emotion

– He has will (1 Corinthians 12:11)

– He can speak(Acts 13:2)

– He has emotions ( love, grieved) Romans 15:30, Ephesians 4:30

– He has intellect- 1 Corinthians 2:10

– He is knowledgeable 1 Corinthians 2:11

– He can hear- John 16:13

– He can be grieved -Ephesians 4:30

– He can be resisted – Acts 7:51

– He can be quenched – 1 Thessalonians 5:19

– He can be ignored and insulted. Hebrews 10:29

LIFE APPLICATION: We need the Holy Spirit to know the mind of God. We also need Him to do the will of our heavenly father.

CONCLUSION: Holy Spirit is a person that we can relate to in order to fulfill our Christian life and ministry.
