BIBLE TEXT: John 14:16-18,26-27

[16]And I will pray the Father, and he shall give you another Comforter, that he may abide with you for ever;
[17]Even the Spirit of truth; whom the world cannot receive, because it seeth him not, neither knoweth him: but ye know him; for he dwelleth with you, and shall be in you.
[18]I will not leave you comfortless: I will come to you.
[26]But the Comforter, which is the Holy Ghost, whom the Father will send in my name, he shall teach you all things, and bring all things to your remembrance, whatsoever I have said unto you.
[27]Peace I leave with you, my peace I give unto you: not as the world giveth, give I unto you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid.

MEMORY VERSE: Acts 2:1-2

[1]And when the day of Pentecost was fully come, they were all with one accord in one place.
[2]And suddenly there came a sound from heaven as of a rushing mighty wind, and it filled all the house where they were sitting.
LESSON AIM: The children will be able to connect with the characteristics of the Holy Spirit and what He does in their lives
CHILD-RELATED TRUTH: God wants you to connect with the Holy Spirit through Jesus Christ.

INTRODUCTION:

Children! How many of you have ever done something wrong? How many of you felt sorry about it? How many of you have ever been brave when you could have been afraid? How many of you need help making the right decisions? If you answered yes to any of these questions, you may have had a little help from the Holy Spirit. Who is the Holy Spirit anyway? What does He do? Is He an egg? Did He come from a chicken? Is He like water? Or is He like the wind?
Maybe you have heard these comparisons before. So how do you get Him? Will He give you superpowers? (fly, walk through walls, throw spider webs on bad people, turn my brother into a kitten, etc.) Let us discover more about Him now!
PROGRESSION OF EVENT: The Holy Spirit
is like JOHN 14:16-18,26-27
1. The wind, because you see the effect on people but you don’t actually see it blowing
2. The Holy Spirit is quick and powerful. (John 3:8; Acts 2:1-2)
3. The fire is pure and refines.
4. The Holy Spirit purifies us (Acts 2:3-4)
5. The water quenches our taste. The Holy Spirit helps satisfies our spiritual taste for God (John 7:37-39).
6. The dove is gentle: The Holy Spirit is gentle and provides comfort (Luke 3:22)
7. The oil because The Holy Spirit gives healing (Acts 10:36-38)
8. The Holy Spirit lives in you and is with you. He takes care of your mind, body, heart, and others (1 Corinthians 6:19-20)
9. The Holy Spirit produces the Fruit of the spirit in you (Galatians 5:22-23)

GOSPEL CONNECTION: The fruit of the Spirit are examples of good fruit in your life. Maybe the Holy Spirit does not live in your heart. Or maybe He does, but you are not following Him as you should. If that describes you, you are going to produce bad fruit which is sin.
The Bible says that sin does not please God. Bad fruit looks like these things: paying more attention to everything else but God (that’s idolatry), hating people, not getting along, being dishonest, wanting what others have (Jealousy), being angry being selfish (only thinking of you!), just to name a few. Because for of God’s love for you, He sent Jesus to take the punishment your sin. Jesus, after His pilgrim on earth, left the Holy Spirit from God to be with those who know Him as Lord and Saviour

CLIMAX: You need the power of the Holy Spirit to work in you and through you.
CONCLUSION: John 14:26 says “The Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in my name, will teach you all things and will remind you of everything I have said to you.”
CHALLENGE: For the Holy Spirit to manifest in you as a child of God, you need to:
1. Ask for forgiveness of your sins.
2. Hide God’s word in your heart.
3. Be completely humble and gentle.
4. Be thankful.
5. Think first about God, then others.
6. Forgive people when they have wronged you.
INVITATION: Receive Jesus into your life and be save (John 1:12)
