MEMORY VERSE: “For as many as are led by

LESSON AIM: The Holy Spirit is the third person of the Trinity.

CHILD RELATED TRUTH: You must know the Holy Spirit, the works of the Holy Spirit and receive Him into your life.

INTRODUCTION: God the Holy Spirit is the third person in Trinity. God dwelling in man. The spirit of truth, helper and comforter. He is a person one with God. He is at work in the world today.

A. The Holy Spirit was present at the very beginning. “And the spirit of God was hovering over the face of the water Gen 1:2.

B. The Holy spirit was promised in the old testament. Isaiah 32:15, Isaiah 59:21, Ezekiel 39:29

C. The Holy Spirit is a promise for you. Joel 2:28

D. Who is the giver of the Holy Spirit, Jesus talked about the promise of His Father.

i. Matt 3:11, Luke 24:29, John 7:37 – 39, John 14:16, John 16:7

E. The works of the Holy spirit:

i. Convicts men of sin, righteousness and judgment. John 16:7

ii. Gives power to witness. Act 1:8

iii. Your helper in prayer. Rom 8:26

iv. Believers seal. Ephesians 1:13

v. Changes you to the image of Christ. 2 Cor 3:18

vi. Bring things to your remembrance. Isaiah 30:21, 1 John 2:20

vii. He is your teacher. Luke 12:12, John 14:26, 1 Cor 21:13, 1 John 2:27

viii. He gives life. John 6:63

ix. He testifies about Jesus. John 15:26

x. Guide to believers. Act 10:19-20, Acts 13:12 Spirit of truth, guide into truth. John 14:17, John 16:13

F. Some people who received special anointing of Holy Spirit in old testament.

i. Moses and the seventy elder -Numbers 11:25

ii. Balam – Number 24:2-4

iii. Othniel- Judges 3:1 0

iv. Bezalel and Oholiab. Exodus 31:1-6

v. Joshua – Deu 34:9

vi. Daniel -Daniel 4:8

G. Some HolySpirit filled men empowered for service in the New Testament.

CLIMAX: lf people in both old and New Testament requires the Holy Spirit to perform their God given callings, then you too need the Holy Spirit to succeed in life.

CONCLUSION: You need to release yourself to the Holy Spirit to live a fruitful Christian life.

CHALLENGE: Call on God to fill you with His Holy Spirit so you can be empowered for service. Also the Holy Spirit requires your fellowship and submission as a true child of God.

INVITATION: You must receive Jesus Christ as your Saviour before you can have the in dwelling of the Holy Spirit, so receive Jesus today John 1:12
