SUNDAY SCHOOL HYMN

1. O Sunday School, on the Lord’s day,
O how I love Thee well,
I am happy, it makes me glad
To rejoice at Thy birth.
2. O Sunday School, on the Lord’s day,
Thy friendship suits me well,
Both young and will sing Thy song,
We long for Sunday School.
3. O Sunday School, on the Lord’s day,
Christ was Thy first teacher,
The Holy Spirit, great teacher,
Does manifest in thee.
4. O Sunday School, on the Lord’s day,
This testimony is sure,
That God, the Father Almighty,
Poured His blessings
5. O Sunday School, on the Lord’s day,
Though the sun be so bright,
Or if the clouds be black with rain,
I’ll be in Sunday School.
6. O Sunday School, on the Lord’s day,
I rejoice to see Thee,
Will thou pass over me today?
Without my being blest?
OPENING PRAYER: Father, help me to shine for the world to see

BIBLE PASSAGE: Matthew 5:14-16

[14]Ye are the light of the world. A city that is set on an hill cannot be hid.
[15]Neither do men light a candle, and put it under a bushel, but on a candlestick; and it giveth light unto all that are in the house.
[16]Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven.

A. Biblically;
i. Light is used severally as a symbol of holiness (Isa.10:17). This depicts purity and transparency which must be evident in the life of the followers of Christ.
ii. Light depicts knowledge and the followers of Christ are expected to be people who live in the understanding of the present and the future (Ps.119:130; Lk.1:76-79).
iii. Light represents divine wisdom which was evident in the life of Stephen and Daniel (Acts 6:10; Dan.5:14).
iv. It also epitomises victory for every believer in Christ Jesus (Esth. 8:16-17).
B. Christ showcases His light through the lives of His followers (Isa. 60:1-3). This translates to the fact that the followers of Christ must stand out (Prov.4:18).

BELIEVERS AS LIGHT CARRIERS

A. Believers who have the light of Christ residing in them:

B. Believers, as carriers of light, are to illuminate the world as they:
i. Bring the Good News to the lost (Isa.61:1).
ii. Are a blessing to people (Acts 9:39).
iii. Proffer solutions to problems (Dan.:24).

C. Integrity should also be the hallmark of these light carriers as they faithfully walk the talk (Job 27:5).
