RCCG SUNDAY SCHOOL STUDENT’S MANUAL LESSON THIRTY-FOUR SUNDAY 25TH APRIL 2021

TOPIC: MARITAL UNFAITHFULNESS

SUNDAY SCHOOL HYMN
1. O Sunday School, on the Lord’s day,
O how I love Thee well,
I am happy, it makes me glad
To rejoice at Thy birth.
2. O Sunday School, on the Lord’s day,
Thy friend friendship suits me well,
Both young and will sing Thy song,
We long for Sunday School.
3. O Sunday School, on the Lord’s day,
Christ was Thy first teacher,
The Holy Spirit, great teacher,
Does manifest in thee.
4. O Sunday School, on the Lord’s day,
This testimony is sure,
That God, the Father Almighty,
Poured His blessing on Thee
5. O Sunday School, on the Lord’s day,
Though the sun be so bright,
Or if the clouds be black with rain,
I’ll be in Sunday School.
6. O Sunday School, on the Lord’s day,
I rejoice to see Thee,
Will thou pass over me today?
Without my being blest?

MEMORY VERSE: “Marriage is honorable in all, and the bed undefiled: but wholemongers and adulterers God will judge”. — Hebrews 13:4
BIBLE PASSAGE: PROVERBS 7:6-27
Proverbs:7.6
For at the window of my house I looked through my lattice,
Proverbs:7.7
And saw among the simple, I perceived among the youths, A young man devoid of understanding,
Proverbs:7.8
Passing along the street near her corner; And he took the path to her house
Proverbs:7.9
In the twilight, in the evening, In the black and dark night.
Proverbs:7.10
And there a woman met him, [With] the attire of a harlot, and a crafty heart.
Proverbs:7.11
She [was] loud and rebellious, Her feet would not stay at home.
Proverbs:7.12
At times [she was] outside, at times in the open square, Lurking at every corner.
Proverbs:7.13
So she caught him and kissed him; With an impudent face she said to him:
Proverbs:7.14
“[I have] peace offerings with me; Today I have paid my vows.
Proverbs:7.15
So I came out to meet you, Diligently to seek your face, And I have found you.
Proverbs:7.16
I have spread my bed with tapestry, Colored coverings of Egyptian linen.
Proverbs:7.17
I have perfumed my bed With myrrh, aloes, and cinnamon.
Proverbs:7.18
Come, let us take our fill of love until morning; Let us delight ourselves with love.
Proverbs:7.19
For my husband [is] not at home; He has gone on a long journey;
Proverbs:7.20
He has taken a bag of money with him, [And] will come home on the appointed day.”
Proverbs:7.21
With her enticing speech she caused him to yield, With her flattering lips she seduced him.
Proverbs:7.22
Immediately he went after her, as an ox goes to the slaughter, Or as a fool to the correction of the stocks,
Proverbs:7.23
Till an arrow struck his liver. As a bird hastens to the snare, He did not know it [would cost] his life.
Proverbs:7.24
Now therefore, listen to me, [my] children; Pay attention to the words of my mouth:
Proverbs:7.25
Do not let your heart turn aside to her ways, Do not stray into her paths;
Proverbs:7.26
For she has cast down many wounded, And all who were slain by her were strong [men.] Proverbs:7.27
Her house [is] the way to hell, Descending to the chambers of death.
INTRODUCTION

LESSON OUTLINE
1. MEANING AND CAUSES OF MARITAL UNFAITHFULNESS
2. EFFECTS OF MARITAL UNFAITHFULNESS AND THE WAY OUT
MEANING AND CAUSES OF MARITAL UNFAITHFULNESS
Marital unfaithfulness talks about inability of either or both of the partners in marriage to adhere to the vow and contract of marriage as stipulated by God. To be unfaithful is to lose the sense of commitment and dedication to one’s partner in all ramifications of it. Here are some of the likely causes of marital unfaithfulness: Failure to provide for basic needs of the partner/home (1Timothy 5:8); infidelity lack of belief in the position of the word of god (Titus 1:17); lack of contentment (1Timothy 6:6); bad company (1Corinthians 15:33) and lack of self-control (1Corinthians 7:5; Titus 2:4-6).
EFFECTS OF MARITAL UNFAITHFULNESS AND THE WAY OUT
Marital unfaithfulness leads to lack of trust and insecurity among couples. It can result to a thread and bitterness (Proverbs 15:17). Due to the injection of strange blood through strange men or women, strange disease may also be injected into the marriage system (Proverbs 5:20; 23:27). It brings about disunity which may lead to separation and eventually divorce (Matthew 19:1-9). Children in such homes learn corrupt and immoral acts and may grow up to become like their parents it breaks down law and order and drives away peace from such home (Proverbs 14:1; Jeremiah 6:14).
Hence, married couples must learn to mutually satisfy each other, be contented and appreciate each other throughout their lifetime (Proverbs 5:15-20). They must take the time to learn the art of lovemaking and the sexual needs of each other. Love and mutual trust must not be compromised. Ultimately, the fear of God must rule and guide the heart of married couples (Ephesians 5:21; Proverbs 8:13; 2Timothy 2:19).
