TOPIC: DYNAMICS OF PRAYER
SUNDAY SCHOOL HYMN
1. O Sunday School, on the Lord’s day,
O how I love Thee well,
I am happy, it makes me glad
To rejoice at Thy birth.
2. O Sunday School, on the Lord’s day,
Thy friend friendship suits me well,
Both young and will sing Thy song,
We long for Sunday School.
3. O Sunday School, on the Lord’s day,
Christ was Thy first teacher,
The Holy Spirit, great teacher,
Does manifest in thee.
4. O Sunday School, on the Lord’s day,
This testimony is sure,
That God, the Father Almighty,
Poured His blessing on Thee
5. O Sunday School, on the Lord’s day,
Though the sun be so bright,
Or if the clouds be black with rain,
I’ll be in Sunday School.
6. O Sunday School, on the Lord’s day
I rejoice to see Thee,
Will thou pass over me today?
Without my being blest?

BIBLE PASSAGE: PHILIPPIANS 4:6-7
6. Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God;
7. And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.
INTRODUCTION
The Bible has many things to say about the subject of prayer. Prayer is talking to God. It is our way of communicating our thoughts, needs, and desires to him. Prayer is an avenue that God has provided for us as believers to make known the deepest feelings of our hearts to him. For the purpose of this study, we shall group prayers into types, levels and categories.

LESSON OUTLINES
1. TYPES AND LEVELS OF PRAYER
2. CATEGORIES OF PRAYER
TYPES AND LEVELS OF PRAYER
A. From the biblical point of view, prayer can be of various types.
i. Prayers of: thanksgiving (Psalms 104);
ii. praise (Psalms 34:1);
iii. worship (Psalms 18:1-2; John 4:23-24);
iv. supplications which is a prayer of pleading particularly by a sinner who is repenting (1Kings 8:46-50).
v. Intercession that is, pleading for someone else (Numbers 14:11-21).
B. The levels of prayer are:
i. prayer of demand as found in Matthew 6:9-11;
ii. prayer of command (Isaiah 45:11)
iii. prayer of decree (Job 22:28) as demonstrated by Elijah in 1Kings 17:1. A decree is a kind of prayer we say to challenge all those who are trying to block our ways (2Kings 1:9-12; Acts 13:6-12).
C. All these prayers are useful to believers depending on their state of mind, situations being addressed, leading of the Spirit, etc.
D. As Christians, we must put our faith in the God who answers prayers and not on our supposed ‘prayer skills’.
CLASS ACTIVITY 1
Class should discuss why it seems difficult for some
CATEGORIES OF PRAYER
1. Prayer can also be in categories.
A. Casual prayers are those regular prayers we pray daily. These include the usual thanksgiving in the morning, blessing the name of the Lord (Psalms 103:1-5), the prayer you pray when you want to eat, travel etc.
B. prayer that control the heavens (Joshua 10:10-12). This is the kind of prayer you should be praying when age is dropping on you and you have not fulfilled your purpose.
C. prayer that brings angel down to do your bidding (Daniel 6:20-22; Act 12:5-11).
D. Prayer that can bring God himself down (Daniel 3:16-17; 24-25).
E. prayer that will cause you to fly (Genesis 32:24-28; Genesis 33:1-6).
i. Jacob prayed and ‘flew’ from fear to peace, from death to life and from rejection to acceptance. He prayed and all of a sudden the storm in his life became permanently still.
ii. The kind of prayer that will cause you to fly is the kind of player that cannot wait till tomorrow.
2. If you have not surrendered your life to Jesus Christ, please do so now urgently so that you will be able to pray and God will hear you.
i. Ask him to save your soul,
ii. promise him you will be committed to him and him alone.
iii. Then your prayers can attract heavenly attention.
CLASS ACTIVITY 2
Class should discuss any categories of prayer they have engaged in and share it’s result.
SUMMARY
Different situations require different prayers. Be dynamic.
CONCLUSION
To every believer who is willing to pray, God is waiting to answer.
CLOSING PRAYER
Father, lease accompany my prayers with mighty testimonies in Jesus name.
ASSIGNMENT
Raise a prayer point under each of the five (5) categories of prayer. (No Mark).
