BIBLE TEXT Acts 1 12 2 41
Acts 1 12 26
12 Then returned they unto Jerusalem from the mount called Olivet which is from Jerusalem a sabbath day s journey
13 And when they were come in they went up into an upper room where abode both Peter and James and John and Andrew Philip and Thomas Bartholomew and Matthew James the son of Alphaeus and Simon Zelotes and Judas the brother of James
14 These all continued with one accord in prayer and supplication with the women and Mary the mother of Jesus and with his brethren
15 And in those days Peter stood up in the midst of the disciples and said the number of names together were about an hundred and twenty
16 Men and brethren this scripture must needs have been fulfilled which the Holy Ghost by the mouth of David spake before concerning Judas which was guide to them that took Jesus
17 For he was numbered with us and had obtained part of this ministry
18 Now this man purchased a field with the reward of iniquity and falling headlong he burst asunder in the midst and all his bowels gushed out
19 And it was known unto all the dwellers at Jerusalem insomuch as that field is called in their proper tongue Aceldama that is to say The field of blood
20 For it is written in the book of Psalms Let his habitation be desolate and let no man dwell therein and his bishoprick let another take
21 Wherefore of these men which have companied with us all the time that the Lord Jesus went in and out among us
22 Beginning from the baptism of John unto that same day that he was taken up from us must one be ordained to be a witness with us of his resurrection
23 And they appointed two Joseph called Barsabas who was surnamed Justus and Matthias
24 And they prayed and said Thou Lord which knowest the hearts of all men shew whether of these two thou hast chosen
25 That he may take part of this ministry and apostleship from which Judas by transgression fell that he might go to his own place
26 And they gave forth their lots and the lot fell upon Matthias and he was numbered with the eleven apostles
MEMORY VERSE Acts 1 8 But ye shall receive power after that the Holy Ghost has come upon you and ye shall be witnesses unto me both in Jerusalem and in all Judaca and Samaria and unto the uttemost part of
the earth

INTRODUCTION
After living His life on earth Jesus went back to heaven Just before leaving He told the apostles that they had a very important job to
do They were to go and tell everyone in the world the good news about Jesus resurrection to baptize them and teach them how to be His followers
PROGRESSION OF EVENTS Acts 1 12 2 41
1 Jesus told the disciples to wait in Jerusalem and that soon He would send a special helper to them
2 He knew they would be sad to see HIm go but the special helper would be with them and give them comfort and power
3 The special helper would be a gift to the whole world
4 The group waited forty days and then a very strong wind began to blow
5 After the wind the apostles saw flames come down and sit above their heads The time had come The helper the Holy Spirit had arrived
GOSPEL CONNECTION The bible tells us that God s arms are not too short or His ears deaf that He cannot save us but our sins have separated us from Him God loves us and He showed His love to you and me by sending His Son Jesus to take the punishment of our sins Jesus died on the cross by shedding His life blood for our sins to be forgiven Jesus died was buried and rose again And He sent the Holy Spirit which He promised the disciples that the comforter will come Romans 5 8 9
When they heard all of the noise they rushed over to see what was happening The apostles went outside into the temple area where many people were gathered
CLIMAX The apostles began speaking in all kinds of different languages and the people from other countries could understand and told the people about Jesus death and resurrection
CONCLUSION The people were sorry that they did not believe in Jesus before and asked Peter how to believe Peter answered them in just the way Jesus had told him to Repent and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of your sins And you will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit
CHALLENGE If you put your trust in Jesus as Lord and Saviour He will give you the Holy Spirit who will give you the power to do all things The Holy Spirit gives you the power to tell others about Jesus He enables you to pray and also helps you to know what to pray about The Holy Spirit also helps you with your school work and your daily chores
INVITATION You need to call on Jesus to be saved Romans 10 13
