RCCG HOUSE FELLOWSHIP LEADERS’ MANUAL DATE: SUNDAY 20TJ JUNE 2021 LESSON: 42

TOPIC: MAKING EVANGELISM A LIFESTYLE

SUNDAY SCHOOL HYMN
1. O Sunday School, on the Lord’s day,
O how I love Thee well,
I am happy, it makes me glad
To rejoice at Thy birth.
2. O Sunday School, on the Lord’s day,
Thy friendship suits me well,
Both young and old will sing Thy song,
We long for Sunday School.
3. O Sunday School, on the Lord’s day,
Christ was Thy first teacher,
The Holy Spirit, great teacher,
Does manifest in thee.
4. O Sunday School, on the Lord’s day,
This testimony is sure,
That God, the Father Almighty,
Poured His blessing on Thee
5. O Sunday School, on the Lord’s day,
Though the sun be so bright,
Or if the clouds be black with rain,
I’ll be in Sunday School.
6. O Sunday School, on the Lord’s day,
I rejoice to see Thee,
Will thou pass over me today?
Without my being blest?

OPENING PRAYER: Father, please give me passion for souls.
PREVIOUS KNOWLEDGE: Who can state why God will punish those who kill? The leader should ask the members.
TODAY’S LESSON:
A: MEMORY VERSE: “And they went forth, and preached every where, the Lord working with them, and confirming the word with signs following. Amen.” – Mark 16:20
B: BIBLE TEXT: ACTS 4:1-22
1 – And as they spake unto the people, the priests, and the captain of the temple, and the Sadducees, came upon them,
2 – Being grieved that they taught the people, and preached through Jesus the resurrection from the dead.
3 – And they laid hands on them, and put them in hold unto the next day: for it was now eventide.
4 – Howbeit many of them which heard the word believed; and the number of the men was about five thousand.
5 – And it came to pass on the morrow, that their rulers, and elders, and scribes
6 – And Annas the high priest, and Caiaphas, and John, and Alexander, and as many as were of the kindred of the high priest, were gathered together at Jerusalem.
7 – And when they had set them in the midst, they asked, By what power, or by what name, have ye done this?
8 – Then Peter, filled with the Holy Ghost, said unto them, Ye rulers of the people, and elders of Israel,
9 – If we this day be examined of the good deed done to the impotent man, by what means he is made whole;
10 – Be it known unto you all, and to all the people of Israel, that by the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth, whom ye crucified, whom God raised from the dead, even by Him doth this man stand here before you whole.
11 – This is the stone which was set at nought of you builders, which is become the head of the corner.
12 – Neither is there salvation in any other: for there is none other name under heaven given among men, whereby we must be saved.
13 – Now when they saw the boldness of Peter and John, and perceived that they were unlearned and ignorant men, they marvelled; and they took knowledge of them, that they had been with Jesus.
14 – And beholding the man which was healed standing with them, they could say nothing against it.
15 – But when they had commanded them to go aside out of the council, they conferred among themselves,
16 – Saying, What shall we do to these men? for that indeed a notable miracle hath been done by them is manifest to all them that dwell in Jerusalem; and we cannot deny it.
17 – But that it spread no further among the people, let us straitly threaten them, that they speak henceforth to no man in this name.
18 – And they called them, and commanded them not to speak at all nor teach in the name of Jesus.
19 – But Peter and John answered and said unto them, Whether it be right in the sight of God to hearken unto you more than unto God, judge ye.
20 – For we cannot but speak the things which we have seen and heard.
21 – So when they had further threatened them, they let them go, finding nothing how they might punish them, because of the people: for all men glorified God for that which was done.
22 – For the man was above forty years old, on whom this miracle of healing was shewed.
C: LESSON INTRODUCTION:
Evangelism is simply telling others about what the good things of the gospel of Christ have brought to our lives. In other words, we must go everywhere with this good news of the gospel like the apostles of the old. However, while evangelising, our lifestyle should portray Christ (Acts 11:26).
LEADERS DIARY:
A: LESSON AIM: To portray evangelism as the heartbeat of God.
B: TEACHING OBJECTIVES: At the end of the lesson, members should be able to:
i. Continue in the work of evangelism without looking back.
ii. Emphasize the need to live like Christ as an evangelist.
C: TEXT REVIEW: Acts 4:1-22
i. The apostles of old obeyed the commandment of preaching the gospel all over the world.
ii. Notable miracles were performed by them according to the word of God.
iii. Even when they were threatened by the then high priests, they did not stop preaching.
D: TEACHING METHOD: The leader should use the discussion method.
E: TIME MANAGEMENT: Share the teaching time using the suggested time schedule.
LESSON OUTLINES: There are two outlines:
A: ATTRIBUTES OF EVANGELISTS:
1.- Regenerated life with holiness as a standard that attracts the people.
2.- They were filled with the Holy Spirit. – Acts 4:8
3.- They were courageous to answer Rulers and Elders of the city. – Acts 4:5-8
4.- Ever ready to preach salvation through Jesus Christ anywhere, anytime. – Acts 4:9-14
5.- Always ready to please God instead of men. – Acts 4:17-19
B: BENEFITS OF A LIFESTYLE OF EVANGELISM:
1.- They had peace with God and their enemies surrendered. – Acts 4:20-21
2.- There was a great harvest of souls into the Kingdom of God. – Acts 4:4
3.- They continued a life of praise, joy and celebration to God’s wonders. – Acts 4:23-31
4.- Ultimately this lifestyle raises up a community of believers who are united to achieve God’s purpose together. – Acts 4:32-37
ACTIVITY: What is evangelism?
SUMMARY: Don’t stop to preach the gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ.

CONCLUSION: Making evangelism a lifestyle connotes that as a Christian, preaching the gospel should be the priority in life.
