BIBLE TEXT: Genesis 12:1-9

[2]And I will make of thee a great nation, and I will bless thee, and make thy name great; and thou shalt be a blessing:
[3]And I will bless them that bless thee, and curse him that curseth thee: and in thee shall all families of the earth be blessed.
[4]So Abram departed, as the LORD had spoken unto him; and Lot went with him: and Abram was seventy and five years old when he departed out of Haran.
[5]And Abram took Sarai his wife, and Lot his brother’s son, and all their substance that they had gathered, and the souls that they had gotten in Haran; and they went forth to go into the land of Canaan; and into the land of Canaan they came.
[6]And Abram passed through the land unto the place of Sichem, unto the plain of Moreh. And the Canaanite was then in the land.
[7]And the LORD appeared unto Abram, and said, Unto thy seed will I give this land: and there builded he an altar unto the LORD, who appeared unto him.
[8]And he removed from thence unto a mountain on the east of Bethel, and pitched his tent, having Bethel on the west, and Hai on the east: and there he builded an altar unto the LORD, and called upon the name of the LORD.

INTRODUCTION: To be blessed is to be singled out for good favor and goodness that changes one’s life and situation from bad to good. An example is the life of Abraham, today every child of God claims the blessing of Abraham because God singled him out of his father’s house, people and nation and made him father of nations. May you remain connected to this Abraham’s blessing as you have Jesus as your Lord and your Saviour
PROGRESSION OF EVENTS – Genesis 12:1-9
A. Now the Lord said to Abram “Get out from your country, from your family and from your father’s house, to a land that
I will show you”.
God needed to pull out Abram from among idolatry land, family and his people to change him to a blessed person. For you too to be blessed of God you need to change from your sinful life.
B. God said to Abram, He will make him a great nation, Bless him, make his name great, bless who blesses him and curse who curses him and through him the whole earth will be blessed. God showed this great love to Abram because He loves him. That same God loves you and He can do the same for you. He is the only one that can do this and he can do it for you too. John 3:16 says “For God so love the world”. He loves you as He loves Abram. vs 2-3.
C. So Abram departed as the Lord had spoken to him and Lot went with him. He took his wife Sarai and his possessions and left Haran. Abram obeyed God’s instruction.
D. He passed through the land to the place of Shechem as far as Terebinth tree of Moreh and Canaanites were then in the land.
CLIMAX: Then the Lord appeared to Abram and said “To your descendant I will give this land” and there he built an altar to the Lord who appeared to him.
CONCLUSION: He moved from there to the mountain east, Bethel west Ai on the east there he built an altar to the Lord and called on the name of the Lord. Going on still toward the south.
LESSON TWO (2)

TOPIC: AUTHOR OF BLESSINGS

BIBLE TEXT: Genesis 17:1-27
17 When Abram was ninety-nine years old, the LORD appeared to him and said, “I am God Almighty[a]; walk before me faithfully and be blameless.
2 Then I will make my covenant between me and you and will greatly increase your numbers.”
3 Abram fell facedown, and God said to him,
4 “As for me, this is my covenant with you: You will be the father of many nations.
5 No longer will you be called Abram[b]; your name will be Abraham,[c] for I have made you a father of many nations.
6 I will make you very fruitful; I will make nations of you, and kings will come from you.
7 I will establish my covenant as an everlasting covenant between me and you and your descendants after you for the generations to come, to be your God and the God of your descendants after you.
8 The whole land of Canaan, where you now reside as a foreigner, I will give as an everlasting possession to you and your descendants after you; and I will be their God.”
9 Then God said to Abraham, “As for you, you must keep my covenant, you and your descendants after you for the generations to come.
10 This is my covenant with you and your descendants after you, the covenant you are to keep: Every male among you shall be circumcised.
11 You are to undergo circumcision, and it will be the sign of the covenant between me and you.
12 For the generations to come every male among you who is eight days old must be circumcised, including those born in your household or bought with money from a foreigner—those who are not your offspring.
13 Whether born in your household or bought with your money, they must be circumcised. My covenant in your flesh is to be an everlasting covenant.
14 Any uncircumcised male, who has not been circumcised in the flesh, will be cut off from his people; he has broken my covenant.”
15 God also said to Abraham, “As for Sarai your wife, you are no longer to call her Sarai; her name will be Sarah.
16 I will bless her and will surely give you a son by her. I will bless her so that she will be the mother of nations; kings of peoples will come from her”.
7 Abraham fell facedown; he laughed and said to himself, “Will a son be born to a man a hundred years old? Will Sarah bear a child at the age of ninety?” 18 And Abraham said to God, “If only Ishmael might live under your blessing!”
19 Then God said, “Yes, but your wife Sarah will bear you a son, and you will call him Isaac.[d] I will establish my covenant with him as an everlasting covenant for his descendants after him.
20 And as for Ishmael, I have heard you: I will surely bless him; I will make him fruitful and will greatly increase his numbers. He will be the father of twelve rulers, and I will make him into a great nation.
21 But my covenant I will establish with Isaac, whom Sarah will bear to you by this time next year.”
22 When he had finished speaking with Abraham, God went up from him.
23 On that very day Abraham took his son Ishmael and all those born in his household or bought with his money, every male in his household, and circumcised them, as God told him.
24 Abraham was ninety-nine years old when he was circumcised,
25 and his son Ishmael was thirteen;
26 Abraham and his son Ishmael were both circumcised on that very day.
27 And every male in Abraham’s household, including those born in his household or bought from a foreigner, was circumcised with him.
MEMORY VERSE: Hebrew 6:14 saying “14 Surely in blessing I will bless thee and multiplying I will multiply thee.”.
LESSON AIM: God is the author of blessing.
CHILD RELATED TRUTH: Ask God for His blessing.
INTRODUCTION: The Almighty God, the creator of heaven and earth is the author of blessing. At creation he made all things in six days and then created man in his image and blessed man to be fruitful and multiply. Genesis 1:26-27 and verses 29-30. God put on creation under the use and control of man. God is the maker of all things and the giver of all things. He has blessed you and I with all he created.
PROGRESSION OF EVENTS: Genesis 17:1-27
A. When Abraham was ninety-nine years old the Lord appeared to him and said to him “I am almighty God, walk before me and be blameless” God being the author of blessing is pure and holy and he hates sin, He was ready to bless Abraham and so he told him to live holy so that he can receive blessings from him. God also wants to bless you and wants you to enjoy Abraham’s blessings by covenant, but you must be blameless too, that is forsake your sin.
B. God said, “and I will make my covenant between me and you and will multiply you exceedingly”.
C. then Abram fell on his face and God talked with him saying: as for me behold my covenant is with you and you shall be a father of nations.
• I will make you exceedingly fruitful and make nations of you and kings shall come from you.
• And I will establish my covenant between me and you and your descendants after you in their generation to be God to you and your descendants
• Also give to you and your descendants after you the land in which you are a stranger.
CLIMAX: God promised to bless Abraham and seal a covenant with him to circumcise himself. Jesus’s blood is the covenant between us and God today. Jesus is God’s son who gave his blood to watch our sins away. Abraham was ninety-nine years old when he was circumcised, and his son Ishmael was thirteen years.
CONCLUSION: God told Abraham that his wife Sarah will bear a son and they will call his name Isaac and he will establish his everlasting covenant with him and his descendants.
LESSON THREE (03)

TOPIC: IMPORTANCE OF BLESSING

BIBLE TEXT: GENESIS 21:1-8
And the LORD visited Sarah as he had said, and the LORD did unto Sarah as he had spoken.
2 For Sarah conceived, and bare Abraham a son in his old age, at the set time of which God had spoken to him.
3 And Abraham called the name of his son that was born unto him, whom Sarah bare to him, Isaac.
4 And Abraham circumcised his son Isaac being eight days old, as God had commanded him.
5 And Abraham was an hundred years old, when his son Isaac was born unto him.
6 And Sarah said, God hath made me to laugh, so that all that hear will laugh with me.
7 And she said, Who would have said unto Abraham, that Sarah should have given children suck? for I have born him a son in his old age.
8 And the child grew, and was weaned: and Abraham made a great feast the same day that Isaac was weaned.
MEMORY VERSE: Gen 12:2b saying “I will bless thee and make thy name great and thou shall be a blessing.”.
LESSON AIM: God blessed you for a reason.
CHILD RELATED TRUTH: God blessed you to bless others.
INTRODUCTION: God does not do things without a reason; first there is a reason for your creation Isaiah 43:7 says “everyone who is called by my name, whom I have created for my glory, I have formed him, yes, I have made him”. God made you and blessed you to show forth His glory and for your life and existence to give Him pleasure. Revelation 4:11.
PROGRESSION OF EVENTS: Genesis 12:1-8
A. And the Lord visited Sarah as he had said and the Lord did for Sarah as He had spoken.
B. Sarah conceived and bore Abraham a son in his old age at the set time of which God had spoken to him. Sarah had barrenness which is a problem; You too may have something in your life that makes you sad. As Sarah believed God and God took away her sadness, God will also take away your sadness if you believe in his son Jesus. John 1:12.
C. And Abraham called the name of his son whom Sarah bought him Isaac and he was circumcised when he was eight days as the Lord commanded.
D. Now Abraham was 100 years old when I seek was born to him. Isaac was a fulfilled promise of God to Abraham as Jesus Christ is a fulfilled promise of God for you and I to take away our shame and reproach. Jesus came to the world so that you and I can be saved from our sin. He died for us.
CLIMAX: And Sarah said “God has made me laugh and all who hear would laugh with me”. The importance of God’s blessings is to take away sorrow and give joy and laughter. God will also give you joy and laughter in any area you have sorrowed as you experience the importance of God’s blessings.
CHALLENGE: As a child of God, God created you and blessed you to be a blessing. He wants your life to benefit people around you, as he created you, God wants you to create too and He has given you all things that pertain to life.
