SUMMARY OF LESSON 1-5
LESSON ONE (01)
TOPIC: WHAT IS BLESSINGS
BIBLE TEXT: Luke 2:1-21
[1]And it came to pass in those days, that there went out a decree from Caesar Augustus, that all the world should be taxed.
[2](And this taxing was first made when Cyrenius was governor of Syria.)
[3]And all went to be taxed, every one into his own city.
[4]And Joseph also went up from Galilee, out of the city of Nazareth, into Judaea, unto the city of David, which is called Bethlehem; (because he was of the house and lineage of David:)
[5]To be taxed with Mary his espoused wife, being great with child.
[6]And so it was, that, while they were there, the days were accomplished that she should be delivered.
[7]And she brought forth her firstborn son, and wrapped him in swaddling clothes, and laid him in a manger; because there was no room for them in the inn.
[8]And there were in the same country shepherds abiding in the field, keeping watch over their flock by night.
[9]And, lo, the angel of the Lord came upon them, and the glory of the Lord shone round about them: and they were sore afraid.
[10]And the angel said unto them, Fear not: for, behold, I bring you good tidings of great joy, which shall be to all people.
[11]For unto you is born this day in the city of David a Saviour, which is Christ the Lord.
[12]And this shall be a sign unto you; Ye shall find the babe wrapped in swaddling clothes, lying in a manger.
[13]And suddenly there was with the angel a multitude of the heavenly host praising God, and saying,
[14]Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace, good will toward men.
[15]And it came to pass, as the angels were gone away from them into heaven, the shepherds said one to another, Let us now go even unto Bethlehem, and see this thing which is come to pass, which the Lord hath made known unto us.
[16]And they came with haste, and found Mary, and Joseph, and the babe lying in a manger.
[17]And when they had seen it, they made known abroad the saying which was told them concerning this child.
[18]And all they that heard it wondered at those things which were told them by the shepherds.
[19]But Mary kept all these things, and pondered them in her heart.
[20]And the shepherds returned, glorifying and praising God for all the things that they had heard and seen, as it was told unto them.
[21]And when eight days were accomplished for the circumcising of the child, his name was called JESUS, which was so named of the angel before he was conceived in the womb.
MEMORY VERSE: James 1:17 “Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, and cometh down from the Father of lights, with whom is no variableness, neither shadow of turning”.
LESSON AIM: The children will know that every good gift is from God.
CHILD RELATED TRUTH: God wants you to rely on Jesus for good gifts
INTRODUCTION: Children! What is a blessing? (give room for answers). A blessing is a special gift from God. God says that when He blesses us, He does not add sorrow. This means that when God gives you a gift, it is something extra special. Long ago, God gave a special gift to the whole world through a virgin who was engaged to be married. That gift is God’s own Jesus
PROGRESSION OF EVENTS: Luke 2:1-21: The Roman ruler August Ceasar sent messages to every citizen of Israel to go back to the town of origin to be counted in a census.
1. Joseph and his pregnant wife Mary left Nazareth to go to Bethlehem to be counted in a census
2. The journey was very tiring for Mary and by the time they got to Bethlehem, there was no room in any Inn because of the crowd
3. Because of the need for Mary to have the baby, they stayed in a stable.
4. She gave birth to a son and wrapped Him in swaddling clothes and laid Him on a manger
5. Shepherds watched their flocks by night on a hill outside of Bethlehem when an Angel of the Lord appeared to them in
glorious light which made them afraid
6. The Angel announced the good news of the birth of the Saviour in Bethlehem that night.
GOSPEL CONNECTION: Jesus is the Saviour of the world. He came into the world to save mankind, which is you and me, from our sins because of the love of God. John 3:16 says that God’s love for the world is the reason He sent His Son Jesus to take the punishment of your sins by shedding His life-blood on the cross.
7. Suddenly, many other Angels were praising God for this special gift.
8. The Shepherds hurried to Bethlehem where they found Mary and Joseph and the baby lying in a manger
CLIMAX: The Shepherd told all who will listen to the good news the Angels brought.
CONCLUSION: Of all the gifts that anyone could ever give, the shepherds knew that God’s gift was the best. God had given this baby to the world.

BIBLE TEXT: JOHN 2: 1-11
1.On the third day there was a wedding in Cana of Galilee, and the mother of Jesus was there.
2 Now both Jesus and His disciples were invited to the wedding.
3 And when they ran out of wine, the mother of Jesus said to Him, “They have no wine.”
4 Jesus said to her, “Woman, what does your concern have to do with Me? My hour has not yet come.”
5 His mother said to the servants, “Whatever He says to you, do it.”
6 Now there were set there six waterpots of stone, according to the manner of purification of the Jews, containing twenty or thirty gallons apiece.
7 Jesus said to them, “Fill the waterpots with water.” And they filled them up to the brim.
8 And He said to them, “Draw some out now, and take it to the master of the feast.” And they took it.
9 When the master of the feast had tasted the water that was made wine and did not know where it came from (but the servants who had drawn the water knew), the master of the feast called the bridegroom.
10 And he said to him, “Every man at the beginning sets out the good wine, and when the guests have well drunk, then the inferior. You have kept the good wine until now!”
11 This beginning of signs Jesus did in Cana of Galilee, and [a]manifested His glory; and His disciples believed in Him.
MEMORY VERSE: 2 Corinthians 9:8 “8 And God is able to bless you abundantly, so that in all things at all times, having all that you need, you will abound in every good work.”.
LESSON AIM: The children will know that God blesses through miracles.
CHILD RELATED TRUTH: Jesus is the miracle worker.
INTRODUCTION: Children! have you ever been to a wedding ceremony before? (Give room for answers). Was there a meal? Did they have plenty of food and drinks? or did they run out of them? What would you have done if you had run out? What weddings have the students been involved in? In today’s story, we are going to learn about a wedding that Jesus and his mother attended. Let’s listen to hear what happened at the feast following the wedding.
PROGRESSION OF EVENTS: John 2:1-11
1.Jesus and his disciples were invited to a wedding in the Cana of Galilee
2.Jesus’s mother Mary was also there.
3.The host ran out of wine.
4.Jesus’s mother told him about the wine that was finished.
5.Mary told the servants to do whatever he asked him.
6.Jesus told them to fill six huge jars with water.
7.Jesus then asked them to give a cup of water in the jar to the master of ceremony.
8.The master of ceremony could not believe how tasty the wine was.
9.Jesus had turned the water into wine
GOSPEL CONNECTION: Jesus who is the author of blessings created everything in the whole world just by speaking words. He came into the world to redeem you and me from our sins. Because of the great love God has for you and me, Jesus died on the cross giving his lifeblood for your sin and mine to be forgiven.
CLIMAX: The disciples believed in Jesus from that day and put all their trust in him as the giver of blessings.
CONCLUSION: Both the disciples did not understand who Jesus was, they believed in him as the author of blessings.
LESSON THREE (03)
TOPIC: IMPORTANCE OF BLESSING
BIBLE TEXT: MARK 10:13-16
13 And they brought young children to him, that he should touch them: and his disciples rebuked those that brought them.
14 But when Jesus saw it, he was much displeased, and said unto them, Suffer the little children to come unto me, and forbid them not: for of such is the kingdom of God.
15 Verily I say unto you, whosoever shall not receive the kingdom of God as a little child, he shall not enter therein.
16 And he took them up in his arms, put his hands upon them, and blessed them.
MEMORY VERSE: 1 Peter 2:2-3 “2 As newborn babes, desire the sincere milk of the word, that ye may grow thereby: 3If so be ye have tasted that the Lord is gracious”.
LESSON AIM: The children will know that true blessing is from God.
CHILD RELATED TRUTH: God wants you to rely on Jesus for your blessing.
INTRODUCTION: one day, after Jesus had been teaching people about God, some mothers started bringing their babies and little children to Jesus.
“Jesus,” one of the mothers asked, “you are such a good teacher. will you please place your hand on my child’s head and give her a blessing?” Jesus was very happy to bless the little children. He loved children, but the disciples saw all of the mothers and children around Jesus and they thought they were bothering him. They knew that Jesus must have been very tired from teaching all the adults, surely he wouldn’t want to spend time with all of these children! so the disciples began telling the mothers and children to go away and leave Jesus alone.
PROGRESSION OF EVENTS: Mark 10:13-16
1.People were bringing little children to Jesus to place his hands on them.
2.Jesus’s disciples tried to stop them
3.Jesus was very unhappy when he saw what the disciples were trying to do.
4.Jesus told the disciples to let the children come to Him and not stop them.
5.Jesus told them that the Kingdom of God belongs to people like children.
6.Jesus said those who do not receive the Kingdom of God like little children will not enter it.
GOSPEL CONNECTION:
God loves you and me and wants us to live with him in heaven someday, but because sinners cannot enter heaven, God sent his son Jesus to die on the cross so that our sins can be forgiven. Jesus died on the cross and was buried but came alive on the third day. Because of what Jesus did on the cross, you can have your sins forgiven. (1st Corinthians 15:3-4).
CLIMAX: Jesus took the little children in his arms, placing his hands on them and blessed them.
CONCLUSION: The children’s innocence and sense of humility and hope were attributes that Jesus wanted his disciples to notice.
LESSON FOUR (04)
TOPIC: UNDERSTANDING THE BLESSING OF GOD (GOD THE FATHER)
BIBLE TEXT: Genesis 1:1-31
[1]In the beginning God created the heaven and the earth.
[2]And the earth was without form, and void; and darkness was upon the face of the deep. And the Spirit of God moved upon the face of the waters.
[3]And God said, Let there be light: and there was light.
[4]And God saw the light, that it was good: and God divided the light from the darkness.
[5]And God called the light Day, and the darkness he called Night. And the evening and the morning were the first day.
[6]And God said, Let there be a firmament in the midst of the waters, and let it divide the waters from the waters.
[7]And God made the firmament, and divided the waters which were under the firmament from the waters which were above the firmament: and it was so.
[8]And God called the firmament Heaven. And the evening and the morning were the second day.
[9]And God said, Let the waters under the heaven be gathered together unto one place, and let the dry land appear: and it was so.
[10]And God called the dry land Earth; and the gathering together of the waters called he Seas: and God saw that it was good.
[11]And God said, Let the earth bring forth grass, the herb yielding seed, and the fruit tree yielding fruit after his kind, whose seed is in itself, upon the earth: and it was so.
[12]And the earth brought forth grass, and herb yielding seed after his kind, and the tree yielding fruit, whose seed was in itself, after his kind: and God saw that it was good.
[13]And the evening and the morning were the third day.
[14]And God said, Let there be lights in the firmament of the heaven to divide the day from the night; and let them be for signs, and for seasons, and for days, and years:
[15]And let them be for lights in the firmament of the heaven to give light upon the earth: and it was so.
[16]And God made two great lights; the greater light to rule the day, and the lesser light to rule the night: he made the stars also.
[17]And God set them in the firmament of the heaven to give light upon the earth,
[18]And to rule over the day and over the night, and to divide the light from the darkness: and God saw that it was good.
[19]And the evening and the morning were the fourth day.
[20]And God said, Let the waters bring forth abundantly the moving creature that hath life, and fowl that may fly above the earth in the open firmament of heaven.
[21]And God created great whales, and every living creature that moveth, which the waters brought forth abundantly, after their kind, and every winged fowl after his kind: and God saw that it was good.
[22]And God blessed them, saying, Be fruitful, and multiply, and fill the waters in the seas, and let fowl multiply in the earth.
[23]And the evening and the morning were the fifth day.
[24]And God said, Let the earth bring forth the living creature after his kind, cattle, and creeping thing, and beast of the earth after his kind: and it was so.
[25]And God made the beast of the earth after his kind, and cattle after their kind, and every thing that creepeth upon the earth after his kind: and God saw that it was good.
[26]And God said, Let us make man in our image, after our likeness: and let them have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over the cattle, and over all the earth, and over every creeping thing that creepeth upon the earth.
[27]So God created man in his own image, in the image of God created he him; male and female created he them.
[28]And God blessed them, and God said unto them, Be fruitful, and multiply, and replenish the earth, and subdue it: and have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over every living thing that moveth upon the earth.
[29]And God said, Behold, I have given you every herb bearing seed, which is upon the face of all the earth, and every tree, in the which is the fruit of a tree yielding seed; to you it shall be for meat.
[30]And to every beast of the earth, and to every fowl of the air, and to every thing that creepeth upon the earth, wherein there is life, I have given every green herb for meat: and it was so.
[31]And God saw every thing that he had made, and, behold, it was very good. And the evening and the morning were the sixth day.
MEMORY VERSE: 2 Corinthians 9:8 “And God is able to make all grace abound toward you; that ye, always having all sufficiency in all things, may abound to every good work:”
LESSON AIM: The children will be reminded of the way God loves and bless them
CHILD RELATED TRUTH: Rely on Jesus for God’s blessing
INTRODUCTION: Did you know that a long. long time ago there was nothing? No trees, no people, no buildings, not even sound or smell? Darkness was everywhere. That is what it was like before God decided to make our world. God created our whole world in six days. He made something different on each of the six days and then on the seventh day God was finished and rested. But, first, let’s go back to the very beginning!
PROGRESSION OF EVENTS: Genesis 1:1-31
1. In the beginning, God created the heavens and the earth and there was nothing
2. Then God spoke, He created light and dark, day and night, and the sky on the first day
3. On the second day of creation, God separated the water above the earth from the water on the earth, placing the sky between the two.
4. On the third day of creation, God created the land, the seas, lovely trees, and beautiful plants.
5. On the fourth day, God created the sun, moon, and stars.
6. On the fifth day, God made every creature that swims in the sea and every bird that flies in the sky.
7. On the sixth day, God created all the animals that live on the ground
GOSPEL CONNECTION:
God created everything with love and purpose for each creation. God created you and me in His image. He wants us to live with Him in heaven someday but the bible says that our sins have separated us from God(Romans 6:23). God sent His Son Jesus to die for our sins so that we will not be separated from Him anymore because the gift of God is Jesus so that you can have life
CLIMAX: On the same day God made the animals, He made a man. The man was called “Adam”. Adam was different from the animals because God gave him a soul when God breathed life into Adam. Adam’s soul gave him the ability to think, love and worship. Adam could make choices. Adam could talk to God. Adam was a special creation.
God brought all of the animals before Adam and gave him the honor of naming them. But Adam knew that he was different from the animals.
CONCLUSION: On the seventh day, God rested because he was finished with some very important work! He was satisfied that he had done a very good job.
LESSON FIVE (05)
RCCG JUNIOR ZEAL 2021/2022 AGE 6-8 TEACHER’S MANUAL 10TH OF OCTOBER 2021 LESSON SIX (06)
TOPIC: UNDERSTANDING THE BLESSING OF CHRIST (GOD THE SON)
BIBLE TEXT: JOHN 4: 1-30, 34-42
4 When therefore the Lord knew how the Pharisees had heard that Jesus made and baptized more disciples than John,
2 (Though Jesus himself baptized not, but his disciples,)
3 He left Judaea, and departed again into Galilee.
4 And he must needs go through Samaria.
5 Then cometh he to a city of Samaria, which is called Sychar, near to the parcel of ground that Jacob gave to his son Joseph.
6 Now Jacob’s well was there. Jesus therefore, being wearied with his journey, sat thus on the well: and it was about the sixth hour.
7 There cometh a woman of Samaria to draw water: Jesus saith unto her, Give me to drink.
8 (For his disciples were gone away unto the city to buy meat.)
9 Then saith the woman of Samaria unto him, How is it that thou, being a Jew, askest drink of me, which am a woman of Samaria? for the Jews have no dealings with the Samaritans.
10 Jesus answered and said unto her, If thou knewest the gift of God, and who it is that saith to thee, Give me to drink; thou wouldest have asked of him, and he would have given thee living water.
11 The woman saith unto him, Sir, thou hast nothing to draw with, and the well is deep: from whence then hast thou that living water?
12 Art thou greater than our father Jacob, which gave us the well, and drank thereof himself, and his children, and his cattle?
13 Jesus answered and said unto her, Whosoever drinketh of this water shall thirst again:
14 But whosoever drinketh of the water that I shall give him shall never thirst; but the water that I shall give him shall be in him a well of water springing up into everlasting life.
15 The woman saith unto him, Sir, give me this water, that I thirst not, neither come hither to draw.
16 Jesus saith unto her, Go, call thy husband, and come hither.
17 The woman answered and said, I have no husband. Jesus said unto her, Thou hast well said, I have no husband:
18 For thou hast had five husbands; and he whom thou now hast is not thy husband: in that saidst thou truly.
19 The woman saith unto him, Sir, I perceive that thou art a prophet.
20 Our fathers worshipped in this mountain; and ye say, that in Jerusalem is the place where men ought to worship.
21 Jesus saith unto her, Woman, believe me, the hour cometh, when ye shall neither in this mountain, nor yet at Jerusalem, worship the Father.
22 Ye worship ye know not what: we know what we worship: for salvation is of the Jews.
23 But the hour cometh, and now is, when the true worshippers shall worship the Father in spirit and in truth: for the Father seeketh such to worship him.
24 God is a Spirit: and they that worship him must worship him in spirit and in truth.
25 The woman saith unto him, I know that Messias cometh, which is called Christ: when he is come, he will tell us all things.
26 Jesus saith unto her, I that speak unto thee am he.
27 And upon this came his disciples, and marvelled that he talked with the woman: yet no man said, What seekest thou? or, Why talkest thou with her?
28 The woman then left her waterpot, and went her way into the city, and saith to the men,
29 Come, see a man, which told me all things that ever I did: is not this the Christ?
30 Then they went out of the city, and came unto him.
34 Jesus saith unto them, My meat is to do the will of him that sent me, and to finish his work.
35 Say not ye, There are yet four months, and then cometh harvest? behold, I say unto you, Lift up your eyes, and look on the fields; for they are white already to harvest.
36 And he that reapeth receiveth wages, and gathereth fruit unto life eternal: that both he that soweth and he that reapeth may rejoice together.
37 And herein is that saying true, One soweth, and another reapeth.
38 I sent you to reap that whereon ye bestowed no labour: other men laboured, and ye are entered into their labours.
39 And many of the Samaritans of that city believed on him for the saying of the woman, which testified, He told me all that ever I did.
40 So when the Samaritans were come unto him, they besought him that he would tarry with them: and he abode there two days.
41 And many more believed because of his own word;
42 And said unto the woman, Now we believe, not because of thy saying: for we have heard him ourselves, and know that this is indeed the Christ, the Saviour of the world.
MEMORY VERSE: Matthew 3:17 “And lo a voice from heaven saying, “This is my beloved Son, in whom I am pleased”.
LESSON AIM: The children will believe in Jesus as their Saviour and who can satisfy their spiritual needs.
CHILD RELATED TRUTH: Jesus is the Saviour of the world.
INTRODUCTION: hundreds of years before Jesus was born, go to the prophet named Isaiah that a great ruler would someday come. God even told Isaiah that the ruler would first be a child and what kind of mother he would have. Who do you think that baby will be? That’s right-Jesus! Isn’t that amazing!
PROGRESSION OF EVENTS: John 4:1-30; 34-42
1. Jesus leaving Galilee went to Judea through Samaria.
2. Jesus rested by the well of Jacob in Samaria while his disciples went into the city to get food
3. Jesus asked for water when a Samaritan woman came to fetch water
4. the woman was surprised that a Jew would ask a Samaritan for water
5. Jesus told the woman if she knew who he was she would ask for living water, but the woman did not understand
6. Jesus challenged the woman sinful condition by asking her to bring her husband
7. The woman tried to change the subject by asking Jesus for the proper place to worship
8. The woman told Jesus that the coming Messiah would explain these things
9. Jesus revealed to her that he was the Messiah
RCCG JUNIOR ZEAL 2021/2022 AGE 6-8 TEACHER’S MANUAL 10TH OF OCTOBER 2021 LESSON SIX (06)
GOSPEL CONNECTION
the woman was face to face with the Messiah. Jesus is the promised Saviour of the world whom God sent to die for the sins of the whole world because of the love he has for you and I. Jesus shed his life-blood on the cross so that you can have your sins forgiven. (1 Cor.15:3-4)
CLIMAX: The Samaritan received the living water by putting her trust in Jesus as her Saviour.
CONCLUSION: When the disciples returned, the woman left her water jar behind and ran into the city to tell them about Jesus. People from that city came to see Jesus and many believed.
