RCCG JUNIOR ZEAL (AGE 4-5) TEACHER’S MANUAL SUNDAY 9TH OF MAY 2021 LESSON THIRTY SIX (36)

TOPIC: WATER BAPTISM AND HOLY SPIRIT BAPTISM

BIBLE TEXT: Matthew 3:13-17

[13]Then cometh Jesus from Galilee to Jordan unto John, to be baptized of him.

[14]But John forbad him, saying, I have need to be baptized of thee, and comest thou to me?

[15]And Jesus answering said unto him, Suffer it to be so now: for thus it becometh us to fulfil all righteousness. Then he suffered him.

[16]And Jesus, when he was baptized, went up straightway out of the water: and, lo, the heavens were opened unto him, and he saw the Spirit of God descending like a dove, and lighting upon him:

[17]And lo a voice from heaven, saying, This is my beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased.

Luke 22:1-12

[1]Now the feast of unleavened bread drew nigh, which is called the Passover.

[2]And the chief priests and scribes sought how they might kill him; for they feared the people.

[3]Then entered Satan into Judas surnamed Iscariot, being of the number of the twelve.

[4]And he went his way, and communed with the chief priests and captains, how he might betray him unto them.

[5]And they were glad, and covenanted to give him money.

[6]And he promised, and sought opportunity to betray him unto them in the absence of the multitude.

[7]Then came the day of unleavened bread, when the passover must be killed.

[8]And he sent Peter and John, saying, Go and prepare us the passover, that we may eat.

[9]And they said unto him, Where wilt thou that we prepare?

[10]And he said unto them, Behold, when ye are entered into the city, there shall a man meet you, bearing a pitcher of water; follow him into the house where he entereth in.

[11]And ye shall say unto the goodman of the house, The Master saith unto thee, Where is the guestchamber, where I shall eat the passover with my disciples?

[12]And he shall shew you a large upper room furnished: there make ready.

RCCG THIS WEEK

INTRODUCTION:

Our awesome God loves human beings so much that he has never stayed apart from Man. He does not leave man alone all by himself to figure out things for his life. Right from the

creation of man in Genesis, God chose to be with man and to help him live out his life here on earth in the correct way. God wants to help you live right by the help of the Holy Spirit

PROGRESSION OF EVENTS

A. Our lord Jesus Christ was baptized Matt 3:13-16. One would have thought that Jesus Christ does not need to be baptized

being the son of God. But he came to lay down every pattern a child of God must follow.

B. Jesus came from Galilee to river Jordan, He went to John to be baptized, but John tried to stop Him. John said “why do you come to me to baptize you? I should be baptized by you” Matt. 3:13-14

C. Jesus answered, “Suffer it to be so now: for thus it becometh us to fulfill all righteousness then he suffered him Jesus did not need to be baptized but he wanted to show you and I, the

right way of doing things (As a child of God remember Jesus lives in you and he will always give you strength to do the right thing) For every child of God, you must be baptized by immersion in a running water(river). Jesus was baptized at river Jordan. What is the significance of water baptism? It means to identify with the death and resurrection of our

Saviour Jesus Christ. It is the symbolic identification that we are Christians. That we are dead to sin and risen to with Jesus Christ our savior. As you grow to age of accountability and are able to decide by yourself, you are to be baptized in a river by immersion. It is not forced on anyone but a decision to be made by every believer.

D. As John baptized Jesus and he came up out of the water; Heaven opened and John saw God’s Spirit(Holy Spirit) coming on Jesus like a dove. And with a voice from heaven saying, this is my beloved son in whom I am well pleased.

(The Holy Spirit is the spirit of God, he came bodily on Jesus Christ. The Holy Spirit is the third person of the Trinity; God the father, God the son and God the Holy Spirit.)

What is the work of the Holy Spirit? John 16:7-9, Luke 12:12, John 14:15-18,26
