TOPIC: GIVE TO THE NEEDY

BIBLE TEXT: Genesis 18:2-18
[2]So he lifted his eyes and looked, and behold, three men were standing by him; and when he saw them, he ran from the tent door to meet them, and bowed himself to the ground,
[3]and said, “My Lord, if I have now found favor in Your sight, do not pass on by Your servant.
[4]Please let a little water be brought, and wash your feet, and rest yourselves under the tree.
[5]And I will bring a morsel of bread, that you may refresh your hearts. After that you may pass by, inasmuch as you have come to your servant.” They said, “Do as you have said.”
[6]So Abraham hurried into the tent to Sarah and said, “Quickly, make ready three measures of fine meal; knead it and make cakes.”
[7]And Abraham ran to the herd, took a tender and good calf, gave it to a young man, and he hastened to prepare it.
[8]So he took butter and milk and the calf which he had prepared, and set it before them; and he stood by them under the tree as they ate.
[9]Then they said to him, “Where is Sarah your wife?” So he said, “Here, in the tent.”
[10]And He said, “I will certainly return to you according to the time of life, and behold, Sarah your wife shall have a son.” (Sarah was listening in the tent door which was behind him.)
[11]Now Abraham and Sarah were old, well advanced in age; and Sarah had passed the age of childbearing.
[12]Therefore Sarah laughed within herself, saying, “After I have grown old, shall I have pleasure, my lord being old also?”
[13]And the Lord said to Abraham, “Why did Sarah laugh, saying, ‘Shall I surely bear a child, since I am old?’
[14]Is anything too hard for the Lord? At the appointed time I will return to you, according to the time of life, and Sarah shall have a son.”
[15]But Sarah denied it, saying, “I did not laugh,” for she was afraid. And He said, “No, but you did laugh!” Abraham Intercedes for Sodom
[16]Then the men rose from there and looked toward Sodom, and Abraham went with them to send them on the way.
[17]And the Lord said, “Shall I hide from Abraham what I am doing,
[18]since Abraham shall surely become a great and mighty nation, and all the nations of the earth shall be blessed in him?
MEMORYVERSE: Hebrews 13:2: “Be not forgetful to entertain strangers, for therefore some have entertained angels unawares”.
LESSON AIM: God wants you to give to the needy.
CHILD RELATED TRUTH: Help the needy

INTRODUCTION: God’s word says “bear one another’s burden and so fulfill the law of Christ Galatians 6:2. When someone is a needy, it is easy for them to be discouraged, sad and fearful. Some even question God. If you lift that
burden by giving, you will help him/her to be joyful and in so doing God is pleased and He blesses you more.
PROGRESSION OF EVENTS:
A. Abraham showed hospitality to three visitors. (He did not know exactly whom he was entertaining).
Matthew 25:35-41 “was a stranger and you welcomed me’ Jesus showed His disciples that when we welcome a stranger, it is Him (Jesus) that we are welcoming.
Abraham would have missed what the visitor brought if he had not welcomed and entertained them. There are blessings you will receive when you give to the needy.
B. Widow of Zarephath gave her last meal to Prophet Elijan and received abundant provision in the time of famine. 1 Kings 17:8-24
The Shunammite cared for Prophet Elisha and received the long awaited miracle of her son. 2 Kings 4:8-12.
C. Acts 9:36-43 Dorcas good deeds of giving to the needy was recorded as the people gathered to testity of her good works when she died, they cried and sent for Peter, Peter came and she was restored back to life.
D. Act 16:15 Lydia welcomed Paul to her home after her conversion. She showed her willingness to be used of God by giving to the need of Paul and God’s people
D. Jesus showed us example of showing love and meeting the need of the needy in Luke 9:10-17 welcoming and showing love to those
who have nothing in common with us is great sign of a true child of God. If you and I are like Jesus we must follow His example. Show
kindness like Jesus did, not only did He welcome the crowd, He also fed them.
Being welcoming is more than just saying “Hello” you must also be a giver. Have time for your visitor and offer them what you have.
F. Jesus Christ demands that we should be like Him, treat people the way He did.
Yes! Practicing hospitality is showing love like Jesus did. God is love. The Bible says God is love. John 4:8. He is our creator, holy without sin.
You and I are born in sin and deserved to be punished but God gave you and I His son to come, and died for our sins.
Jesus came to died 2 Cor 5:21 and He came back to life. God will accept you into His family if you believe in Jesus.
CLIMAX: Peter told believers to always show hospitality to one another (1 Peter 4:9)

CONCLUSION: A child of God should show love by giving to the needy. 3 John 8
CHALLENGE: If you received Jesus as Saviour, God wants you to honour Him by giving to the needy around you. Ask God to help you give to the needy this week and come to share how you obey next Sunday.
INVITATION: You cannot honour God by giving as He wants you to do except you first have Jesus as your Saviour. You can choose to receive Him now to be your Saviour from sin John 1:12.
LESSON FORTY-EIGHT (48)

TOPIC: EMPATHY (BEAR ONE ANOTHER’S BURDEN)

BIBLE TEXT: John 8:1-11
[1]Jesus went unto the mount of Olives.
[2]And early in the morning he came again into the temple, and all the people came unto him; and he sat down, and taught them.
[3]And the scribes and Pharisees brought unto him a woman taken in adultery; and when they had set her in the midst,
[4]They say unto him, Master, this woman was taken in adultery, in the very act.
[5]Now Moses in the law commanded us, that such should be stoned: but what sayest thou?
[6]This they said, tempting him, that they might have to accuse him. But Jesus stooped down, and with his finger wrote on the ground, as though he heard them not.
[7]So when they continued asking him, he lifted up himself, and said unto them, He that is without sin among you, let him first cast a stone at her.
[8]And again he stooped down, and wrote on the ground.
[9]And they which heard it, being convicted by their own conscience, went out one by one, beginning at the eldest, even unto the last: and Jesus was left alone, and the woman standing in the midst.
[10]When Jesus had lifted up himself, and saw none but the woman, he said unto her, Woman, where are those thine accusers? hath no man condemned thee?
[11]She said, No man, Lord. And Jesus said unto her, Neither do I condemn thee: go, and sin no more.
MEMORY VERSE: Ephesians 4:32 “And be ye kind one to another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, even as God for Christ’s sake hath forgiven you.”
LESSON AIM: The children will know that empathy is understanding how other people feel and being able to share their feelings.
CHILD RELATED TRUTH: You can show empathy as Jesus did.
INTRODUCTION: Children! We are going to look at a word called empathy. Empathy is understanding how other people feel and being able to share their feelings. It means that for a little while you are more
worried about how they feel than how you feel. Here is an example: One of your classmates is making fun of a girl who wore dirty shoes to school.
You might want to laugh with your classmate so that she will like you, but that is not the right thing to do. You should stop and take a minute to think about how the girl feels. Maybe she can’t afford to buy new shoes and that is ok. Empathy is thinking about how other people feel and treating them with kindness instead of just doing whatever you feel.
PROGRESSION OF EVENTS:
1. On one early morning, Jesus sat around the temple area to teach the people that came to Him
2. The teachers of the law and the Pharisees brought a woman to Him who was caught in adultery
3. They forced her to stand before the people and said to Jesus, this woman was caught in the very act of adultery
4. They said to Jesus that Moses’ law said she should be stoned to death but what do you say?
5. They said this testing Jesus so that they will be able to have something He said against Him
6. But Jesus stooped down and started writing something on the ground with his finger
7. As the Jewish leaders continued to ask their question, Jesus stood up and said anyone who had no sin should throw the first stone
GOSPEL CONNECTION: Sin is the want to do wrong and Romans 3:23 says all have sinned and come short of the glory of God. It means because you and I are sinners, God who loves us sent Jesus to earth to take the punishment for our sins. Jesus died a terrible death on the cross so that we can live with Him and God in heaven someday in heaven (John 3:16)
8. Jesus stooped down again and wrote something on the ground
9. When they heard this, they began to leave one by one starting from the oldest and others follow after being convicted in their conscience
10. Jesus was left alone with the woman and asked for her accusers and whether they judge her guilty
CLIMAX: The woman answered that no one had and Jesus said neither did He
CONCLUSION: Jesus also told her to go and sin no more
CHALLENGE: Sometimes we do think that some sins are so bad that the Lord will not forgive us for doing it, but He always forgives us when we tell Him we are sorry. God is faithful and just to forgive you and cleanse you from every sin. As a child who believes in Jesus as Lord and Savior, ask God to forgive you every wrong thing you have done
INVITATION: Jesus forgives all that come to Him in repentance. Call on Him as Lord and Savior and be saved (Romans 10:13)

BIBLE TEXT: JOHN 14: 1-4
1Let not your heart be troubled: ye believe in God, believe also in me.
2 In my Father’s house are many mansions: if it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you.
3 And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again, and receive you unto myself; that where I am, there ye may be also.
4 And whither I go ye know, and the way ye know.
MEMORY VERSE: JOHN 14:6 “And I will pray the Father, and he shall give you another Comforter, that he may abide with you forever”.
LESSON AIM: The children will know that accepting Jesus is the only way to God.
CHILD RELATED TRUTH: Jesus is the only way to God.
INTRODUCTION: Children! There is this story of a three-year-old boy who was lost during one of the major programs in Redemption Camp. His parents were looking for him everywhere and didn’t know where he could be in such a big place. They went to the Information Bureau so many times, but nobody had brought a lost and found child. The little boy told his parents later. That when he realised that he couldn’t see his mum and dad again, he figured he was lost and remembered what their auntie told them in Sunday school. That anytime they are lost; they should remember to pray to Jesus who will help them to find their way. He became overjoyed and relieved when he found his parents after asking Jesus to show him the way to them.
PROGRESSION OF EVENTS:
1. Jesus told his disciples not to worry, but to put their trust in him and God.
GOSPEL CONNECTION:
God loves us so much that He sent His son down to Earth. God sent Jesus to save and find us. When you believe in Jesus as Lord and Saviour, he will find you and lead you back to God. Like John 3:16 says. “For God loved the world so much that He gave His one and only Son so that everyone who believes in Him will not perish but have eternal life”.
2.Jesus said there is more than enough room. In his Father’s house.
3.Jesus told them. If it was not so, he would not have told them that he was going to prepare a place for them.
4.He said when everything is ready. He will come and get them.
CLIMAX: Jesus promised that they will always be where He is and told them that they know where He is going.
CONCLUSION: One of the disciples, Thomas asked users to show them the way and he told them that he is the only way to God.
CHALLENGE: As believers, our desire is to be with Jesus all the time, everywhere. The only name that can save us is the name Jesus. He is the only true God and the only way for us to be saved from our sins. Romans 10:9 says, “if. You confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved”. Jesus is the only way to Heaven. We follow him when we confess that he is Lord. As his followers, we can be comforted knowing he will never lead us astray.
INVITATION: Call on the name of Jesus and be saved (Romans 10:13)
LESSON FIFTY (50)
SUNDAY 15TH OF AUGUST, 2021

TOPIC: WIN THE CROWNS

BIBLE TEXT: 1 Corinthians 9:24-27
24. Do you not know that those who run in a race all run, but one receives the prize? Run in such a way that you may [a]obtain it.
25 And everyone who competes for the prize [b]is temperate in all things. Now they do it to obtain a perishable crown, but we for an imperishable crown.
26 Therefore I run thus: not with uncertainty. Thus I fight: not as one who beats the air.
27 But I discipline my body and bring it into subjection, lest, when I have preached to others, I myself should become disqualified.
MEMORY VERSE: ROMANS 1:16
16. “For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ: for it is the power of God unto salvation to everyone that believeth; to the Jew first, and also to the Greek.”
LESSON AIM: The children will know that God is the only prize worth seeking in life.
CHILD RELATED TRUTH: Your prize is eternal life with Jesus.
INTRODUCTION: children! Who runs a race? And why do people run in races? Some people run for fun and others do because they know that it is good for their bodies and most importantly some do it to win prizes. At the end of a race, the person who crosses the finish line gets a prize.
PROGRESSION OF EVENTS:
1. In a race, all the runners run but only one wins.
2. Run in such a way that you will win the prize.
3. All who participate for this prize train strictly.
4. They do this so that they can win this prize that does not last.
5. But we’re on for a price that does not perish but will last forever.
GOSPEL CONNECTION:
Like runners in a race, we should never give up but continually try to get closer and closer to God. Our prize is eternal life. To have eternal life, you must accept Jesus as Lord and Savior. Jesus died, was buried, and rose again so that you can have eternal life. John 3:16 says because of the love of God, He sent His son to die for our sins so anyone who believes in Him will live forever with Him in heaven.
6. I run like someone who has a goal.
7. I fight like a boxer who hits something not just the air.
8. I fight to make my body do what I want.
CLIMAX: I do this to also win the prize myself after telling others about it.
CONCLUSION: I should live a life that will bring me closer to God.
CHALLENGE: As believers, We need to stay closer to God because we want to win the prize at the end of life. We want to please God and if we loved God and accept him as our savior then our prize will be living with him forever. That is definitely something worth working for. This week, you can follow these guidelines and see how you can get closer to God:
1. Go to Sunday school and Bible club.
2. Read your Bible and pray
3. Obey the word of God.
4. Tell others about Jesus.
INVITATION: Since God is the only prize you must run after, accept Jesus as Lord and Saviour.
